Sounds like a good license to me. For awhile I had thought this series was picked up some time back. Hmmm... well fans will be happy.

Is this a re-release, or a new box set? Because I bought Nozomi's original release of 'Sound of the Sky' about 2 years ago now.

Yeah, I don't quite get that. Is there anything new in this release?

This is a re-release for a standard edition. TRSI tends to do Premium/Limited Edition releases and then do a standard Lite Box release. They have recently done it for Maria Watches Over Us and Victorian Romance Emma. Basically, it is just a smaller set with a smaller price tag (although Rightstuf has not yet put the "Your Price" on the listing).

I much prefer the box art from their first release, so I'm happy I own that. This is a solid show that has much more going for it than the 'K-ON in the Army' tag some people give it. Definitely one of the more creative (and gorgeous) settings used in the past few years as well.

Seems the only thing missing between the two versions is the book.
The box, and I do mean box here, not that packaging FUNimation uses when it goes cheap, will be slightly thinner due to the missing book.
For $25, though: a good deal. The other edition is still available for $38.
Changing subject a bit, it's funny to read what the show was described as in the article. I've read people refer it as "K-ON in the military".
