Just finished this recently and I didn't find a forum thread on it so I thought I would start one.
Although Charger Girl will never be on anyone's best-ever list, I found it pretty well worth watching. The fan service sometimes went overboard (it is a harem anime after all), but it was entertaining anyway. Maybe the best way to look at it is how it was different: * The cartoon violence went a bit over the top. I know it is a gag/schtick, but I was a little put off by the leading male Sento's habit of hitting two of the females with a baseball bat on the slightest provocation. No little tap either -- big wind-up and follow-through. If it was for real it would be a 100% fatal skull crush. Quirky think is that prim-and-proper Arresta actually finds out she gets off on it. * Is urine funny? The girls pee a lot in reaction to stress, including the aforementioned events. * Why would a parallel dimension use out-sized IEC electrical plugs for this purpose? Can't they develop their own engineering standards? * I kind of liked the trick that they used the premise of electrical hazard to dress the girls in skin-tight rubber suits. They don't have to be that tight, but they are. You can see all the details of Plug and Arresta's labias without censorship this way. * Plug is one of the more entertaining idiots anime has produced recently. It somehow makes it more funny that as doofus as she is she still has the savvy to blackmail Arresta. * That little clip in the end credits of Plug running on a treadmill is cute. (Her coach should work on her arm movement.) Her body is a different shape from what it is in the story. Anyone have anything to add to this? |
