I would add my own award for Heartcatch Precure for having the MOST BADASS FINAL BOSS FIGHT SCENE ever!!! Umakoshi went all out on that episode! Cool

inb4 all the K-ON haters and all the rage they'll probably express...

Either way, a BIG congratulations to K-ON!!...

It was better than the first season, and I don't care whether it deserves it or not, I'm glad one of my favorite anime won. Very Happy

I love Heartcatch, but it winning for Character Design seems weird; since it's such a departure from other PreCure series.

Yay Tatami Galaxy! Glad to see a Yuasa work winning an award. Tatami Galaxy was definitely entertaining, and I'm sure I'll find it moreso when I have time to re-watch it.

I'm also looking forward to The Borrowers... in 2012 =\

And why exactly would that matter for this decision?

Anyway, as an Umakoshi fan, I'm very pleased by this news. He deserves all the awards he can get.

Really looking forward to seeing The Borrowers and K-ON.

UC has been amazing so far. I can't wait to see more. It looks fantastic on blu-ray.

And why do you think it won and none of the other PreCure series ever did? Wink Yes, exactly.

No way. Razz

Glad to see Arrietty win. Really wish it was gonna come stateside sooner, but when it does get a release over here, better believe I'm getting it. Only heard great things about it so far.

Is there ever a moment that anything Ghibli does doesn't win?

I really want to see Arrietty. I hope it gets a release soon.

I loved the Trois petits points short by Alice Dieudonne. In many ways it's got some elements in it that reminds me of 'Spirited Away' or 'Howl's Moving Castle'. I love seeing stuff like this. Glad it got a notice. Here's hoping to see more from this animator. Smile

Hey, they're the Disney/Pixar of Japan. Laughing

Guess Gov. Ishihara's Tokyo Anime Fair is doing just fine, eh?

There's a reason why Precure has managed to stay around for so long. I'm disappointed that I have not found the time to watch Heartcatch despite knowing it's good and having seen all the other Precure series (including ongoing Suite Precure).

On a side note, note that the actual titles that won these awards are quite limited so I wouldn't say that "Ishihara's TAF" is "doing just fine" just yet.

You'd be surprised. The last time I got the same kind of final fight vibes was from none other than Gurren Lagann. It was sheer epicness not seen in years and reminded me that anime can have epic battles if there are people who put their heart on it. *glares at all the running battle shounen disappointed*

But yes, the character design award is nice. Can't wait to see Arrietty.

The creator of Precure was interviewed on NHK World a few weeks ago and he said it was his intended plan to keep making each new series completely different and unrelated from the last to keep it fresh for each new generation of girls watching it. He even apologised to the fans of the older series, but hope they would understand that Precure is targeted toward tweens and young teens and that they should be happy that it continues to be a top favourite for the future. Very few can argue that isn't working for him. Wink
