First, Well Played, AnnCast!

Kudos for taking the initiative -along with others- to spearhead fund raising for Japan relief efforts.

However...

Has anyone else noticed the lack of reaction from American Gaming websites, eg. G4, IGN, etc.?

I took a quick tour of gaming sites and none, that I've found, have any sort of call for aid for Japan. No banners. No links to the Red Cross or similar relief/aid agencies. Nothing.

Frankly, I'm both surprised and terribly dismayed. Given how gargantuan the gaming community is (both in monetary and physical size), and how it's linked with Japan, one would think there would be at least some kind of response.

I do know that Sony, Nintendo and other Japanese Gaming Corp. have made very substantial donations already, but the near complete lack of response from the US gaming community online is--it's all PAX East coverage right now, or business as usual (like nothing's going on).

I'm terribly disappointed with them.

Nexon has dedicated space on their website to gather donations and are giving 100% of all pet card purchases as donations to the Touhoku earthquake victims.

I don't know about any other websites, but I do know about the home of my dual wielding loli paladin. Very Happy

Siliconera is holding a raffle going through to the end of the month. Funny, how it's only the small fry (and one of the few that focus ONLY on Japanese-based gaming) that's helping out rather than the big names. Although, I think I remember Kotaku having links posted for the relief, at the least.

This isn't a Talkback thread.

But in the show notes for the bonus episode we do explicitly link to IGN's fundraiser:

Kotaku is hosting a live fundraiser as well, as was mentioned on the frontpage.

Cheapass gamer is doing a thing too.

In fact all of this stuff is linked to on the front page on this site.
