I'm not sure why the message on the Asobi ni Iku yo! website is dated March 12, but I got this email from Amazon JP on February 27:

Makes you wonder how some of those Japanese who lived through WW2 (and the A-bombs) handled the stress (and health hazards) back then. Some of them are still alive today too.

Japan will come back, and there's gonna be some very compelling anime released in the next few years that will tell the story of this tragedy.
This was a life changing event for everyone in Japan. It's only natural for every good storyteller, regardless of the genre, to want to express their experience.
There will be an an anime coming out the next few years based on this horror. And I have enough faith in their spirit to spirit to believe that I will be tremendously moved by this work.
Please don't fret over the delays. Please support them in any way you can. They need all the help we can give them. And when they do get back on their feet again, they're gonna have some amazing stories to tell.
