I had to vote 1998, as that year saw three of my very favorite anime, Card Captor Sakura, Kare Kano, and Battle Athletes Victory. On a less personal level, I was kind of surprised to see how many iconic anime appeared that year (Bebop, Lodoss War, Trigun, Lain, Perfect Blue, the Ah! My Goddess TV reboot). In addition, there were some really good shows that year that were just under the radar (Neo Ranga, Kurogane Communication, Outlaw Star).

Makes me wonder what the year 2051 will have in store for anime. Which current series will that generation even remember, do you think?

AKB0048. The group itself might still be performing in 2051 though obviously with a rather different cast. There will probably still be a TakaMina, though.

2002 I guess but basically that whole decade is a tie, with all the awesome shows created durring it.

I'd have to say 2006. The Death Note anime started, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya aired, and Eureka Seven finished its run. 3 of my favorite anime all running at the same time would have been heaven!

Need to watch much more before I have an informed opinion. But currently, I guess that 1988 is my top year, thanks to My Neighbor Totoro, Grave of the Fireflies and Akira.

I chose 2007 (the year I started watching Anime), but really, 2005 is ultimately my favorite. My favorite and runner-up favorite Anime series aired that year (Mahoraba~Heartful Days and Pani Poni Dash!). Anime catgrin

Yes, and you may create a poll for those since they didn't exist then and votes can't be edited. In other words, this thread is outdated.

I can post the poll for you if you can't. Not willing to create since I haven't seen much since.

Thought I might resurrect this thread so I can share my thoughts here.

I could have chosen 2005 simply for Karas, but 2004 simply because it had both Samurai 7 and Kannazuki no Miko, despite me not watching KnM till 2006 since I never heard about since I never had a working computer back then.

Now I have a better informed opinion. My year is 2002:

Raxephon
Haibane Renmei
Saikano

Came out that year. That's 3 A grade stuff there. I don't recall any year from 1995 to 2011 with so much great sutff. Well, 2008 had:

Kaiba
Aria The Origination
Clannad: After Story

Also 3 great ones. Others years usually had at most one great title (1995, Evangelion, 1997, Princess Mononoke, 1998, Lain, 2001, Spirited Away, 2003, Texhnolyze, 2007, Gurren Lagann, 2011, PMMM).

What I like most and my fave anime is Naruto. Maybe because of loyalty and determination and diverse characters are the reasons. Its sequel, Naruto Shippuden, is good! If I got it correctly, it began broadcasting on TV Tokyo on February 15, 2007.
