Kick ass! I wonder what the movie will be about. I loved the ending of Trigun, but this... this sounds like an extra surprise present I wasn't expecting after enjoying an already excellent birthday!

I hope it will be set in a alternate universe, (or time) like the Escaflowne Movie, or maybe a different time frame during the series like Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' On Heaven's Door, but this oughta be worth the wait. Lets hope nothing of this is forgotten in 4 months.

I'm particularly excited that Masaya Onosaka will live once again as Vash.

Seriously, I'm the guy's biggest fan.

O.O! No one is happier then I am about this!

I have a feeling that maybe this movie will be like Trigun: Maximum or something.

I really hope it's made...I don't want to get my hopes up like I did Trigun: The Gunsmoke Planet...that game would have rocked...

Trigun is my most favorite anime ever!

Well, this movie will either be great or terrible. Or it could be average, like the Cowboy Bebop movie. Only time will tell I suppose.

They did say several years so I am not too excited, but I do love how America is reviving interest in these series, aka Hellsing. As people have mentioned before what would be the plot of this movie, a side story, sequel, etc? I just hope I am not dissapointed.

Maybe they will pick up making the Trigun game again.

For the most part, Trigun Maximum is the same story as the anime - it just has a different name. The events are just slightly different. So there's nothing really to make a movie out of it; unless this is a retelling of the entire series.

-coughs- If I recall Wolfwood didn't die and come back to life in the series. It's alittle more different then it sounds sure maybe the same plot but the characters have changed alittle.

EDIT: I do think that we will get a look further into the past this time thought for like a flashback or something. I don't know I just think we will.

That's exactly what I meant Barbarian. It's the same story, just with slightly different events.

If they were to make a movie closer to the manga, it would basically be a Rahxephon or Death&Rebirth type deal. Same story, just w/slightly different events.

Edit: but then again, I have only read the first 5 volumes.

The anime goes on a different route after Vash blast the moon. The anime at that time (1998) didn't have enough manga material so it made it's own story after the episode where he blast the moon. The manga introduces new characters and well Wolfwood as already said continues to live on. So it's not the same story as the anime was when it gets to a certain point.

btw I don't even know how "closer" they'll make to the manga since there's what 11 volumes out right now and it's still not done I don't see how it can be truer to the manga than the series was because of the limited time the movie will have. Which is why it has me a bit worried. Though there's a chance I'll may turn out to be good...

It's clearly not a recap movie like Blue Gender, or else it would take like a couple months, not a couple years. Therefore, it seems a safe assumption that this will be something new and different -- and that means more Trigun! Woo Hoo!

I usually dislike "self-contained" movies with a separate adventure nothing to do with the series (ie Knockin' on Heaven's Door, even though the movie was pretty good), but with Trigun I think I might have to prefer it...because I really think the ending to Trigun was fine, and you shouldn't ever fix what ain't broken.

See, with the Fullmetal Alchemist movie, I can understand how the movie will continue off of the series, because the ending to the series was obviously incomplete to some extent, but forcing a direct sequal off the series for Trigun would seem kinda lame to me..

AWSOME!

That's the only word that describes my excitement over this news. This was most unexpected news I have heard in a long while. What if, this movie is released in theaters in the US. I would drive a 10,000 miles in any direction to go see Vash the Stampede on the big screen. Ahhhha but that's just wishful thinking.

However, anything that has Yasuhiro Nightow fingerprints on it is going to be beautiful and breathtaking to watch; Nightow is a humble guy that has a lot of talent and skill. Trigun is still my favorite #1 anime (i don't know why) and it was truly revolutionary for its time when it was released back in `98.

Definitely one of the best dubbed anime's out there. It made a lot more sense than Bebop. God I love happy endings. Hopefully, Geneon gets its hands on it before anyone else because they did a really good job with the dubbing last time.

Interesting! I wonder, though, how ANN knows what these magazines (or any others, for that matter) will publish?

Both of the issues mentioned are already for sale, that's how.

Hm, I figured it was because a couple of the columists here also work at Anime Insider.

[edit: clarified]

Actually, none of them currently do (although some have been in the past). There are some names that pop up as freelance writers. But that's not the same as being on staff.

Cool Hi...this is my very first post here on this forum but I just had to register say how much I love hearing about a new Trigun Movie and i agree with you about Nightow...his work is awsome!!
I've been reading all the manga translated so far and read some translations of the most current chapters of of Trigun Maximum in YKO. It seems like the real story in the manga is coming to an end soon in Japan...that might be why the movie might take a few years...Nightow is just finishing the story now. Personally I don't mind the wait....I hope they put a lot of time and effort into the movie and make it a trillion times better then the anime was...don't get me wrong I love the anime, i mean that's what got me started on Trigun in the first place, but the animation could have been a lot better and the story has nothing compaired to the manga. Tons of material has been left out because the manga wasn't even half finished yet.

*possible spoilers*

Even if they try to continue the story after Wolfwood's Death (I hope they don't leave out Wolfwood though!!! WOLFWOOD IS AWSOME!!!!) They still have other characters to introduce like Livio the Doublefang and Chrimsonnail. Also they didn't even touch on Knives' real power and the damage he does to the inhabitants of Gunsmoke, and the "black hair effect" on Vash, Knives, and other plant beings, and also the ship coming from Earth.

Actually I don't know how they will make this movie without retelling the whole story over again...maby they will have to once again chew up the manga to make it fit with the anime to put a better ending to the story...maby Vash WILL kill Knives at the end of the movie...I have no clue ....the manga dosen't even tell us yet as far as I know anyway.

I don't know if I'll be back on this forum or not but its nice talkin' to Trigun freaks like me once in awile. Anime smile

By the way...if anyone thinks Trigun Maximum is like the anime they obviously have not read much of it at all.
