So these novels...how many are there?

I bought the manga from Tokyopop during the summer and was not aware that the Japanese were holding out on us or is this something relatively new everywhere?

I don't know anything about them, would anyone please shine some light on these, please.

Thanks in advance.

What's the difference between the novel and the manga?

I've been waiting for this for so long. I literally jumped out of my chair and yelled.

My brother was not happy. Razz

Until I told him the news.

But yeah, I want to know what the novels are about. I hope they're about the 4 year jump found at the end of the manga. Regardless, I will be buying them up as soon as they are released.

Does that mean it's text only or like that Gundam Seed novel?

Now the question is, with them licensing new stuff, are they actually going to FINISH the stuff they've already licensed (i.e. Slayers)? I've seen someone quote an e-mail they sent asking about the novels before saying that Tokyopop has no plans to release anything beyond volume 7, and when I tried to e-mail asking about it, I got a reply basically of "no, we're not going to be doing anything with that".

Am I the only one who thinks they should actually finish what they start before adding more?

Well, I think it's a question of whether it's selling or not.

Now instead of just seeing repetative gags and fanservice, you get to read about them! There goes half of the Love Hina audience who are in it for the "visual pleasures".

A bit of quick info:

*The novels are original stories
*They are written by one of the guys who worked on the anime, but he checked with Ken Akamatsu (the manga-ka) on the info
*Each book has 2 stories each
*They are even more adult than the series. The first volume starts off talking about spoiler[how Keitaro was dreaming (nightmaring?) he was in the Guinness Book of Records for being the first person to "climax" thanks to a hot springs turtle.]

And maybe the Fushigi Yugi novels, and prehaps even the Cowboy Bebop novels... Tokyopop can kill two birds with one stone and put out the KOHD novelization with the "extras" that were in the Japanese movie guide...

I hope this is the start of a lasting trend.

If it's not selling, then they should at least come out and say that because it's not selling well, they arne't continuing it. Rather than just suddenly not doing any more of the series with no explanation.

A friend of mine has also pointed out that a number of their other releases have jumped from gaps of every other month to twice that. Haven't heard any info or announcement on that, either.

Dunno about you, but that doesn't help my opinion of the trustworthiness and reliability of the company any.

So, everytime a company changes schedule because of various reasons and factors, they should ask your permission?
