I would totally buy Nichijou manga. Gag mangas are awesome.

The store near me halved the shelves holding manga. Also they stopped carrying Railgun the only seven seas title I currently collect. They also stopped carrying Hayate the Combat Butler again the only other currently running series I collect.

I find it annoying to have to special order both of these since I collect them on release. Hayate is at volume 22 and Railgun is sitting at 8 with seven seas getting 9 at some point.

I find the store is doing a disservice to me by not carrying the two titles I go to the store to pick up in the first place. I have talked with the store and they still refuse to pick up either title on release.

Now thats customer service for you.

I would order online but amazon sent me the wrong manga one time with a whole different ISBN number and it was a pain waiting to get the correct manga.

Speaking of Raildex, I'm wondering if Seven Seas is looking at the upcoming A Certain Scientific Accelerator.

Sorry to hear about that! Unfortunately seems to be a persisting issue, and in some cases (such as yours), an escalating issue.

But let me get this right, this bookstore's staff won't even special order the volumes? That's pretty crummy.

If you're not too thrilled with Amazon, I'd definitely recommend buying from RightStuf if you can. Easily some of the best customer service in the industry -- really can't go wrong with ordering from them.

Advance-preview aside, not much to look at/consider until the actual serialized manga starts coming out in December. Way too early to make a call. Wink

Makes sense; I'm not a huge fan of blind buys myself.

I would love for someone to pick up the Flat series as Tokyopop went under before having chance to release any of the volumes. It's so cute and Aki is adorable.

Quote:
Heisuke, a carefree high schooler with love for eating and making desserts.

Aki, a selfless long-suffering cousin of Heisuke.

When the two meet a heart warming story begins that will change Heisuke and Aki forever.

Heisuke is a young man who was left in charge of taking care of his little cousin Aki for a day. Being an only child who usually stays at home alone, Aki is quiet, reserved, and will go out of his way not to make trouble for others. As they spend more time together, Aki begins to grow very attached to Heisuke, especially since Heisuke's hobby is to make sweets and desserts. The quiet Aki eventually opens up to Heisuke, and Heisuke in return teaches Aki that sometimes it's all right to be selfish and say what you really want to do.

Have you heard of Propeller Heaven? It's a one volume manga by the creator of Alien Nine and Milk Closet. No fan translation have been put out and there aren't any raw scans. The only information I could find on it is that it's about real and synthetic humans. I'm really curious about this manga and would definitely buy it if it ever got published

Via Seven Seas' Tumblr:

Quote:
STAY TUNED: Upcoming license-related doujinshi announcement on Monday. Here’s a hint—it’s related to something in our current catalog.

Seems like this must be the "Witches of Africa" (and others) semi-official doujinshi by Nogami Takeshi. I'm not sure of any other way Seven Seas would be getting into doujinshi...at least, not in a way related to their current catalog.

That'd be pretty awesome, though, since it's a great series. On the other hand, I'm torn. I'd want to buy it, but I already have the original Japanese (bilingual) doujinshi. Hmm, but if there's some added omake content I might be able to justify it...

It has been some time since I was last frequently posting here, but I'll be making an earnest attempt at keeping a more active eye on the thread and activity here!

Yay, I need more Witch Buster! And just good manhwa in general, it's like the one weak spot in my collection, not too many manhwa. I wish you guys published more things like this and less things that are borderline porn. Sure, I understand those will be better sellers, but I don't personally buy them. I sometimes rent them from the library out of morbid curiosity, but I'd never buy them.

Also, Lizzie Newton, did you guys quit on that or something? It was so good!

Know that we're always on the lookout for new licenses, so feel free to send us any recommendations. We may not be able to answer the inquiries, but doesn't mean the requests will go ignored; we've been directed to a number of licenses thanks to fan input.

While I don't believe we have any [new] manhwa planned for the immediate future, I certainly wouldn't count out the possibility in 2015.

Regarding Lizzie Newton: we've added the first two volumes to Comixology, but at the current time, we have no plans for future volumes. We'll update fans when/if we have news on that front.

Well are there any publishers you can't work with? In Vertical's recent poll, they specifically said "no manga from these guys", likely because Viz or Yen or someone already have a deal with them (I can't see anyone other than Viz getting Shonen Jump for example). That would help much for recommendations.

This is a list that I had of Japanese publishers who are exclusive to some US publishers:

Japanese Publisher (US publisher)

Kodansha (Kodansha Comics)
Shogakukan (Viz)
Shueisha (Viz)
Square Enix (Yen Press)

When Conner gets back to the thread he can probably tell us if that is still valid.

Yep, this is pretty much the restrictions. We also have it outlined on our Tumblr FAQ page.

Other other two we can't work with are Hakusensha and Flex Comix/SoftBank Creative (they're not allowing anyone to license from them, though).
