I'm sure the FBI will be pleased to know that. Rolling Eyes

The only way in which he'd be prosecuted is if Toei or 4Kids themselves bothered to enforce their copyright and as they have not done so thus far, what would the FBI be able to do about it? Besides, it's not as if Toei wants to make an uncut, subtitled version legally available to the pubic in the first place, so it's obviously doing them no harm.

And why would they want to do that? It's not like they are going to lose any money over it, right? But you know how it is with the FBI, they just can't help themselves when it comes to enforcing existing laws. Makes them feel.....you know....justified. Well maybe you don't, never mind. Wink

I think the point still remains that the FBI have bigger fish to fry. Devoting manpower and resources to copyright infringements on foreign childrens cartoons is a waste of time.

Hurry up with Max Heart, Arienai. Splash Star is being done by someone else so season 2 is all yours.

With only the Max Heart movie fansubbed so far, the season season is rather lonely.

I'm relieved, though, that they're sticking to children's shows. What would really be awful is if they started licensing shows aimed at older audiences and hacked them up in an attempt to create teen-friendly programming.

They already do that with One Piece.

It's a children's show.

So were Gantz and Evangelion. Heck,Eva was on right before the kids went off to school.

Gantz is a kids show? Please tell me you are joking. You can't possibly believe Gantz was a children's show.

And Eva would have been aimed at early teenagers or pre-teens (10-12) at the youngest.

Er, no. Gantz aired in late night hours commonly reserved for adult-oriented shows. And though Evangelion was touted as a "children's show" when it initially debuted, Anno's introduction of adult themes into the series later in its run and its message of "anti-otakuism" (neither of which were likely...expected...by the broadcasters when the series began) prompted a move to more adult-oriented vieweing hours. Anno's justification for the darker tone and mature themes of the later episodes was that he believed people should learn about and be wary of such things as the dangers of the otaku lifestyle from a young age and not be shielded from the harsh reality of them. Obviously, this idea did not go over well with the Japanese television industry or viewership, as the demographic-shifting timeslot move itself and the fact that the series only really gained popularity with an adult audience tend to suggest.

So yes, though Evangelion started as a "children's show," by the end it was anything but. And Gantz...never was a children's show in the first place; I don't know where you even came up with that one.

Pretty sure it was a failed effort in retaliation to people calling his beloved One Piece a children's show. People say stupid things when they're angry. One Piece is a children's show, but that doesn't automatically make it any worse then any other anime. I wish people would stop getting so pissed off about this...

I thought if anyone was to license Pretty Cure, it'd be 4Kids.
I only watch that show when my brother invites a spawn of friends over and I need something REALLY girly.

We ALL know what 4kids do to the dubs, but I don't think it's going to be as bad as Nelvana. And people still fansub 4kids' licensed shows because of the harse edits they made. Unlike ADV or Funi where you have to delete them as soon as they're lisenced.

From what i've seen of ADV's Nadesico, the subtitling is beyond pathetic and worse then any competent fansub. When there is more then one person speaking on screen, they choose to subtitle only one of the speakers and often the non-main speaker. Resulting in complete incomprehension if you can't understand Japanese. If that is the typical work of ADV, it might be better to avoid their commercial releases and find some of the older fansubs.

Uh, how many years ago Nedesico was released (7 or 8). Heck, how many years was Nedesico released on DVD (6 or 5). ADV has gotten better in terms of subtitles in the past couple of years. But hey, if want to live that far in the past, more power to you.

Anime News Service claims that Toei's also doing something with Nanoha
and that they just posted a splash page for Pretty Cure on their American site.

Welcome to 3 months ago. Wink

I thought that show sounded familiar. I thought 4Kids had gone under? Oh well.
