Is Saiyuki a dead horse in the States now? No one licensed Burial or the Gaiden movies.

See, nobody says here about Koji Yamamura that "it's exciting to see talent like this" or "looking forward to his next work" or "give him a budget and staff and maybe the next Shinkai", etc.

That's because he doesn't work in anime style. No wonder non-mainstream animators in Japan don't get any respect. Because, unless they work in anime style, nobody appreciates them. Confused
