I salute you Zac, good choices.

Although it would be cool to see a part two for this due to the high number of shows being aired right now.

I still need an action flavor in this season, I mean , it was a bit of a dissapointment seeing the first eps of Ergo Proxy and the uncompelling story.

So a second part would be a good idea, I don't want t waste my time downloading stuff that I might or might not continue to watch.

Nevertheless, good article my friend.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is definitely worth looking into. It's an odd juxtaposition of bishoujo comedy and suspenseful murder mystery, and somehow it works. The first episode only has small hints of things to come, but episode 2 turns up the suspense a notch, and is surprisingly unsettling. It's pretty unique, and I would recommend it if one likes anime that are rather outside the norm.

Fixed. Wink

And I second that. The way the series shift between your everyday cutesy bishoujo gags to horror suspense is quite something. I got curious about this series because the original PC game was considered very popular, and it wasn't because of the character designs (seriously they're pretty odd) and the complete lack of porn.

Now excuse me while I go back to reading vol 12 of GINTAMA. (Seriously, can I emphasize any further how underappreciated this series is by the non-Japanese empowered American fan).

the mangaotaku has spoken -_- lol.

I hate Nana.

Was your aim here to come across as a completely condescending, elitist jerk?

Because if so, mission accomplished, buddy.

Also: Not sure I'm going to have time to make a Part II for this feature, but if I do, I'll be sure to take the suggestions in this thread for what shows will appear.

Geh, you're way too sensitive Zac. I think Part of me subconsicosuly wanted to invoke your iconic "buddy" response.

¦Some past examples¦

¤"Bias"? Against what? Comics I don't like? Okay, yeah, I guess I am "biased" against comics I don't like. You got me there, buddy.

¤Great "review" buddy! Thanks for linking us to that!

¤Truth is not subjective, buddy.

¤You're holding yourself up here as some paragon of critique. Let's see your work, buddy.

¤Well, buddy, I hate to break it to you, but both you and Bamboo are completely and utterly wrong about this.

btw, I spelled "subconsciously" wrong on purpose...

Well, great. As if I didn't have enough new series to look forward to this season. What with Digimon Savers, more Aria, and the latest Tenchi spin-off that's supposed to be out soon, this review had to go and add several more. Wink

I guess I'll just have to hope that when they hit state-side the releases will be spaced out enough that I'm not going into debt for DVDs ..again. Very Happy

I have. It has cute (yet unoriginal) character designs, the background art is gorgeous, and the plot seems intruguing enough. Though the thing that bothered me is the voice acting especially from Himawari. Rolling Eyes

same... If I were to break it down I think I'll be watching:

Haruhi
Gintama
Ouran High School Host Club
School Rumble
Black Lagoon
Air Gear

6 X 24 mins = 2hours 40min

well, that not too bad... I feel bad for the people who try to watch everything that comes out.

Zac, maybe you should preview one of the shoen-ai titles for gag value (i.e. princess princess, gakuen heaven, and the upcomming angel feather). 39% of the ANN community will thank you. Anime smile

In response to the Soul Link review, I will agree with you with regards to the first two episodes, and at first I was tempted to write it off; however, a friend encouraged me to watch episode 3 and wow! what a dramatic change. After 3 the series jumped from a so-so to an excellent. Also, Air Gear did turn out to be a disappointment Sad

I think the best way to describe it is to say spoiler[that it goes all Ender's Game - and someone was dumb enough to invade the Battle School. Oh, and Ender is armed.] (Spoiler tags for caution's sake)

Curious, in what way do you mean that? I tried to play the game but considering my abysmal Japanese, I didn't really get anything out of it. Neutral[/spoiler]

Hi all.
I don't know about you, but I really like Ergo Proxy, animation aside (which is wonderful). I mean, the story might be a little convoluted but that's where it drags its attractiveness from. It's like a mixture between the freakiness of Texhnolyze and the mystery/darkness of Gilgamesh, only better drawn and animated.

On the other hand, regarding Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu, which I also like, I have a question, as well as a suggestion. In the encyclopedia, it's credited as being comedy and slice of life. So, I'm wondering, where's the SciFi-part written? Major spoiler ahead... careful, if you don't want to miss the excitement that's to come. spoiler[I mean, half of the characters are aliens, or better yet "humanoid interfaces". Haruhi herself is one (although she is not aware of it), able to create an explosion in the space-time continuum when her state of mind reaches complete instability, yueni the "melancholy" in the title. I haven't read the book nor the manga (don't know if there even is one). I took all these infos (and much more) from the japanese wikipedia article regarding this anime. I'll give you the link, if you'd like to find out more.] Anyway, with or without SF written as a genre, I really hope it won't go down quality-wise, or better, that it will improve, cause I love it. It's certainly "different" (take it as you like) and that's a great thing.

All in all, I agree with most of the previews. NANA is a good show, much better than Paradise Kiss, not to mention that Gokinjo piece of ... I might change my opinion on Yazawa Ai, after all. Ouran Koukou Hosuto Bu is nice and, though lacking in the plot department, is great for a laugh. Pretty accurate adaptation of the manga, if not better. I love Maaya Sakamoto and still can't believe that drama queen-Tamaki's seiyuu is the same who impersonated Kiba from Wolf's Rain. Well, that only proves that he's really good.

Sorry for any possible grammar/formulation mistakes. English is not my first language.

The Disgaea anime is pretty bad, despite the fact that I love the game. Everything is horribly out of sequence, storywise. I do like that the voices are the same though.
