I'm laughing hysterically at people who bought the singles. I mean, it's anime. You know damn well if you wait a year or so, you'll get a box set. Your own stupid fault for buying the singles.

I actually want to see the full extras list. I have hte Plat Thinpak set (Woo Xmas), but I'm a fan who likes extras with their DVDs, which is part of the reason Bandai and ADV are my two favorite (Yes I know it's spelled wrong) dubbing compaines. THe other part being they know how to do good dubs.

If they can cram enough extras into this, I'll gladly drop $200+ on it.

Maybe all of those EVA toys that I saw in hastings. They had like 3 of them and they looked really slick.

Hey, I'm debating on this one. I bought the orginal DVDs as they came out. I definately was not going to do the same with the Platinum. Still, Evangelion is a favorite series that really has changed my life. I want a high quality version better than the one I bought back in the days when they sold DVD and VHS. If you weren't buying anime back then, please shut the hell up about this.

Also, as much as I know ADV is a big company that wants to make money, back when they first released EVA, they were not. They had this crappy rather VHS transfer and that's all they had to release on DVD. It's not their fault that's the cards they were delt.

If anyone, you should blame Gainax. Though I really can't, not fully. We're the ones who want Eva stuff.

And it's not like Gainax is trying to get as much money as they can out of Eva even after ten years.

Evangleion the Angel Girl Figure!

Evangelion the dating game (part 2)!

Evangelion the caution tape!

Evangelion the ashtray!

Evangelion the manga!

Evangelion the HDD audio Player!

Evangelion the Nerv T-shirt!

Evangelion the official cosplay outfit!

Evangelion the ecchi swimsuit figure!

EVANGELION THE TEN SPEED BIKE!

Moichendizing! Where the real money from the anime is made.

Hmmm... all we need is an Evangelion the flamethrower.

...

Oh. Eh.... close enough.

(With apologies to Mel Brooks)

leather jacket - 120$ (?)
manga - 20$
series - 90$
Loads of extras - 20$
Owning one of the best anime series in history crammed full of extras- priceless [there are some things money can't buy, for everything else there's Master Card] (lol)

honestly, though, I'm still undecided wether or not to get this, I mean a NERV jacket? How cool is that! However, i just got the platinum last month. If i get this, I'll wait a good year.

(also, I think eva came out in 1997 here because on the VHS and 1st edition DVD at the end of the credits it said "english lanuage and subtitled versions (C) 1997 ADV films)

Yeah, both ADV and Gainax are trying to make money with Eva, because it makes them money. So what? More power to them. A business must make money.

They use that money to pay their staffers, fund new projects, and tons and tons of other things. (like getting rich? : D)

Some people hate ADV. I can understand that. I happen to like them a lot, honestly. But there's no denying Evangelion made anime huge in North America, and we can thank ADV and all their porn tapes for getting it out over here.

Wait.. a leather Nerv jacket? Tempting... Tempting. Leather. Nerv. Jacket. C'mon! That's just about worth $250 alone. You see how much a regular one is?

Where are you people seeing the words "leather" and "NERV" anywhere in the news article? Confused

Seriously, right?

I had the same intial reaction as most people on the forum when I read the news ("another Eva re-release?!") - but on the amused side rather than anger towards ADV.

Really though, like others said, from a business stand point ADV has a property that can still make money, and they have every right to keep re-releasing it for as long as there are fans willing to buy it. If you're not willing to buy it, then you're not the ones that ADV is doing business with anyway regarding this new set.

Personally, I'll probably only buy this if I run into a really cheap discount price for it in the future. Not that rich. Anime smile

You know, I haven't bought this show in any form as of yet, and I see no reason to keep doing so.

Maybe when the inevitable "Evangelion Blu-Ray Rei will eat your brains" edition comes out.

For that price, I expect a full-size Rei Sexaroid as one of the "extras."

Then again, this has pretty much the qualifications for Eva to "Jump the Shark."

Curse ADV! Don't they know that some of us have electronics corporations to support?

Bah. I'm usually a sucker for a box set with extras any day, but this is (supposedly) the year of the PS3, and that means that I probably won't have that kind of money to spend Sad

I'm just thinking that dlw's complained about the anime market being over-saturated, so how does quadruple-dipping alleviate the situation? I mean the series isn't even popular in Japan anymore, so what's the point? They need to stop licensing obscure 80's ovas and harem shows and pick up a current high-profile title again.

Abarenbo: Eva jumped the shark on day one. Although most people feel it's the last two episodes.

If all you're going to post is a more articulated version of "bluhblahblhublah" then please don't post.

I say they need license more obscure 80's ovas. There's obviously a gap in the market there as older anime rarely gets licensed over newer.

I personally think making a special boxset for collector's is a great idea and would like to see it implemented with other animes in the ADV catalogue.

Wait, is that a generic MP3 player with an Eva skin on it or what?
