MB, unlike CPM, continued to invest in good shows after pulling off those mega hits, while CPM simply decided to spend it elsewhere.

I don't see how investing in a bunch of interchangeable Harlock spin-offs is a good investment.
_______________

?????
MB is our friend! They've brought us Level C, Boku no sexual Harassment, Sukisho, Sensitive Pornograph, Loveless, Legend of the Blue Wolves(ok, kinda burned my eyes), Skyscrapers of Oz...I probably forgot something. Yeah, I get the feel of someone selling stuff out of the back of a van on the side of the road from them, but they also give us better deals usually (12/13 ep shows on 3 instead of 3 dvds, Japanese extras seem to be included more often with their product than anyone else).

I told my daughter a couple yrs ago (maybe mentioned it on a board somewhere-don't know, doesn't matter)-this was going to happen. I told her CPM was a likely candidate because they seemed locked in the old school mode of operating, but the market flooded as the American market does. Everyone wants a piece of the hot product pie whether they understand it or not (Beanie Babies. Survivor of the insanity of comic collecting in the 1980's where companies started putting out 50 first editions a yr) Notice ADV & Geneon did their layoffs what-a yr ago? Back then, I thought Funi & MB were maybe shaky-Funi only had DB-no one else seemed to be buying Fruits Basket because ti was expensive, but Funi made some changes. MB is just MB. They're my fav because they give us yaoi & Japanese cast interviews, but they never seem to get the big titles, although their other stuff must be keeping them afloat. I don't want them to go away.
I have a lot of CPM titles & want Be Beautiful to survive. Having been there done that(1990 & it was an overnight decision), I know all it takes in one hard-line creditor refusing to play ball to cause the decision to file for bankruptcy-threatening to take one to court to claim all the assets for themselves so you can't keep the rest of the creditors at bay because they just care about themselves. If they force one to bankruptcy, they can write it off rather than carrying a risky debt & move on to the next poor sap who's hit a run of bad luck.

CPM need to keep re-pricing their back catalogue making it cheap and luring to even the most casual of fans.

While looking to aquire an old license such as 'Orguss Tv' or 'Space Adventure Cobra tv' then charge premium rate for a limited box set release similiar to Animeigo's Macross release.

IMO because older titles are a niche within a niche (anime) they should market certain products as expensive collectable or luxury for the hardcore fans.

CPM are severely lacking in the marketing research department too. They should host they're own forums and have public polls asking for which anime fans what they would like to see get licensed and how a certain series should be released.
