I still don't get why NISA would bring over what is quite possibly the worst, and cheapest game for the PS3...

It seems like such a blatant cash grab. I know they're better than that.

I think you just answered your own inquiry John. NISA knows RPGs don't sell as well as they used to, so they have to pay the bills with something that they're certain will rake in the big bucks like Bleach or Naruto. Sad, but that's business. I certainly wouldn't want NISA to go under.

I mean who cares about a cute alchemy girl trying to save her workshop when we can watch several people all wearing the same damn outfits pop off insane-sized attacks and exchanging remarks about their power level being higher than the other guy's, while claiming they learned their technique in some other dimension or whatever, am I right? Rolling Eyes

I also second the coming of the next FFT. If they could combine the races feature of Advance with the glory days of Tactics, then I smell a surefire winner.

Satoshi Urushihara's character designs are godly, but the stuff he's made of other anime and manga characters look pretty funky. I would link some pictures but they're a bit too inappropriate - pretty much everything else he does besides doing art for Growlanser is porn.

fixed. Smile

And by any chance are you referring to Urushihara's take on Chun Li and Cammy? If so, I agree. Cammy is supposed to look like a badass, not a gentle soul! Laughing

I'm really hoping we'll hear something about Fire Emblem at E3. The latest DS game would be great; it's also due for another console edition too really. Guess we'll see what happens.

As a die hard giant robot show fan, I adore SRW to some kind of crazy level. I've just recently picked up all of the PSX-PS2 releases, and I am slowly worming my way through them. They aren't the most in depth strategy based games, but the thrill of blowing up galaxies and rocking out to JAM Project? Sign me up!

SSFIV, DOA:D, and now BlazBlu. So many portable fighters right now. All that's missing is Smash Bros. and KoF and we'd have a complete circle.

By the way, just how did Masamune Shinrow end up as character designer for FE? Connections?

Great article on the SRPG's.

I'm rather surprised that TearRing Saga didn't get a mention in the Fire Emblem section though especially considering it's gaining cult fanbase as well as it's ties to the series.

Likewise I'm also upset that another two of my favourite SRPG's didn't get mentioned. Tokyo Majin Gakuen I can understand since it's extremely obscure and really only known in the US by the anime which is very different to the games but I am rather surprised Summon Night didn't get mentioned since the series was primarily an SRPG series with the four main games all being SRPG's.

The majority of the other SRPG games I have played though range from obscure to extremely obscure. The Farland Saga series fits the former whereas Eithea and Back Guiner definetely fall into the latter.

There is also the Gate Keepers game which started off the franchise and was an SRPG game combined with Dating Sim elements in the same vein of Sakura Wars and Summon Night. Of particular note though I think is the Galaxy Fraulein Yuna series which, again, started off the franchise and was a SRPG series.

For the Shining Force fans, the fan-translation of Scenarios 2 and 3 has finally reached the end of S3. You have to have a computer that can emulate the Saturn to run the things, but it's finally possible!

I'm a bit late, but nice Talking Heads reference in the article. Cool
