| Do they mean Shugo Kyara? I was thinking this because it serialized in Nakayoshi but I'm not sure because it only has one tank out in Japan which came out 06 July 2006. |

Yes, Shugo-Chara. (they're going to go with the Englishified version of the romanization.)
And yes, they're going ahead with it even though only one volume has come out. |

Ohhh, Mushishi? Very interesting pickup by Del Rey.
Does the anime have any differences from the manga, BTW? |

The anime is an exact retelling of the manga, just in a different order, if you've seen the anime in its entirety, you need to start on ch2 of v6 in the manga to see new material...which is my plan, at any rate. |

Yes, the explaination being Shugo stands for those little guardian creatures & chara being short for "character" so "kyara" is, following that train of thought, a mis-spelling. Yes, it has only just come out (last week? Last month?) in Japan according to the panel. Sort of like their thing in the last Tsubasa where they announced the pronunciation is, according to the character book, Feye like eye for Fai. The panel seemed pretty hyped up on that also-it only covers the first 8 volumes so they're hoping there will be another, but there is so much in it the translator was exhausted. They claim we might think we're catching all the refs in Tsubasa, but this character book will probably shoe all of us stuff we didn't know about Tsubasa.
It was interesting all the hype they put into promoting their Oh Great manga & no, they would NEVER censor the title unlike some other company we all know, That said, they're "touching up" the cover of Vol 2. It seems the girl is showing too much skin &, since it IS the cover, they are altering the cover-adding leggings |

Yay, can't wait for the Mushishi manga. I've been watching the series and totally love the different aspects it carries; drama, fantasy, mystery, supernatural, and a little slice of life (though a bit borderline with all that Mushi stuff ). |

| Go Del Rey! It seems Del Rey gets a lot of their stuff from Kodansha. I am looking forward to Mushishi the manga. My friend tells me how great the series is. Let's hope someone picks that up at some point. The Encyclopedia says Mushishi is in Afternoon with other great stuff such as Blade of the Immortal and Oh My Goddess! I look forward to picking Mushishi in stores. Now if Del Rey would also pick up Yokohama Kaidashi Kiko, another great unlicensed title from Afternoon. |

Okay, why has every Peach-Pit series (except their first, but I don't even remember what it's called) been picked up except Zombie-Loan? Oh well, I guess I'll just have to sulk off with my tanoubon... :b
Except that Mushishi way more than makes up for that. I haven't seen much of the anime, but I fell in love with what I did see, and the manga looks even better. |

Parasyte -- while the manga doesn't exactly grip me from what I've read about it, this is the first time I've heard of a manga license going from one company to another. Despite Del Rey's very close relationship with Kodansha, I can't see an expired license just automatically going to Del Rey first if they want it. |

You forget Crying Freeman (Viz to Darkhorse) and Fist of the North Star (Viz to Rajin), not to mention older titles like Akira, Barefoot Gen and Lone Wolf and Cub. |

I for one am gonna look forward to picking up Parasyte again, it's a great manga with an excellent twist to it. I feel Tokyopop should have made an effort to reprint it since it was one of the early titles that put them where they are now. Talk about missed oppurtunity.
Still I'm sure Del Ray will do a damn good job with Mushishi and Parasyte after reading the superb Genshiken.
Check Parasyte out people, it's very cool stuff in a macabre Invasion of the Body Snatchers style. |

hmph...I've just read 5th volume of Del Rei's Genshiken Manga... Not baad, really not bad (althrough the've blackened all extras >,<)
I give high hopes to the Mushishi manga. I loved mushishi anime even before I started to watch it, so there is no doubt manga will do.
Only problem... Does anybody know good manga stores around Long Island, because selection in one I buy isn't so great?
Thanks |
