I wonder just how many job applications from young yaoi fangirls is Viz Media may end up rejecting (that is if those yaoi fangirls don't have some excessive grudge against Viz becuase they don't finish the pretty-boy Reborn manga when not a lot a lot of people bought it in the first place or something)?

I'm curious what kind of BL titles they may license. So excited!
Actually I think it would be nice if VIZ picks up Junjou Romantica and Sekaii Ichi Hatsukoi considering Tokyopop went under. Those are big titles in the BL market. |

Well this is some promising news, especially after the loss of TokyoPop's BLU imprint. I wonder how long it'll take them to be up 'n' publishing?

 That came out of nowhere. I wonder if this means there's a chance that Viz might release Ragawa's New York, New York manga... probably not seeing how old it is still, I'd pick that up in a heartbeat if they did.

Yuu Watase's Sakuragari is a masterpiece....I do hope it gets picked up. I also agree that New York New York would be a great addition to the North American manga market. |

I'm kinda surprised that there isn't more Yuri manga released here. I mean I know there are a few titles with Yuri overtones but I wish someone would make a whole Yuri line like everyone does for Yaoi.

Very interesting. Actually, VIZ is the last name in the game I would've expected to start licensing BL material. Not that I'm complaining, what with Tokyopop/BLU under now, any name's good now, I suppose.

VIZ actually licensed a 'BL' before - Descendants of Darkness. I have the first 5 volumes. But some people say it's considered Shoujo. So I don't know. I see it as BL. Last edited by AyumiHamasaki on Sat Jun 18, 2011 12:07 am; edited 2 times in total |

Wonder if they are going to hire back one of the many people they laid off over the past few years. If they think adding Yaoi to their catalog will rescue the company from sinking, they are crazy. Gonna take a lot more than that to revive Viz.

Smart move, Viz. Whatever your opinions of yaoi fangirls, they have /lots/ of buying power. I just hope they don't start licensing yet more mediocre volumes full of one shots...
PS: Another Sakura Gari fan here! I'd love to see the Cornered Mouse Dreams of Cheese and The Carp on the Chopping Block Jumps Twice. That is decent BL. |
