It really sounds like Halloween is catching on with the 15-30ish crown in Japan. Seeing the huge influence of cosplay on the America costuming scene, it's not surprising the reverse would happen. I think my favorite (not best) costumes are the green army men. Or Mr. Tokyo 2020.

The guy in the Reagan mask, did he just want to be Reagan or was that a Point Break reference?

Not Reagan. (if you're talking about the last image before the Kawasaki images) It's a Japanese politician.

That would be current Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe:

I was wondering a few days ago is Halloween had any cachet in Japan. On one hand, I thought that a nation with an enthusiastically syncretic culture that loves to play dress-up might really go for it, while on the other I wondered if it might be redundant or superfluous given all of the other opportunities to do so. Seems like they're erring happily more toward the first hand.

Those female Marios (Marias?) were pretty great, if a little disconcerting.

For a second there, I thought that those were from Attack on Titan. Then again, crossing Free! with the Titans would make a certain kind of sense. They might be the only thing with less bodyfat than the Iwatobi swim club boys.

Let me guess, when he rings your bill he says, "trick or authoritarian historical revisionism."

Oh well, at least he's not raiding the pension fund, dumping chemicals in the ocean and selling out best assets to the Japanese.
