I knew there was something missing in the Shakugan no Shana TV series....a hot springs episode!
Hopefully Geneon will get a hold of it. |

| My only question is when is the movie coming Out? I've heard some rumors saying that it will be coming out in mid late 2007. |

| What's with Geneon and these pre-license deals? This OVA and Higurashi should have been bagged immediately; why delay and provide an opportunity for lesser companies to grab these shows? |

I don't know anything for sure, but it's probably money. They may have exhausted their capital and are having to wait for more money from sales to pick up new properties. Or they could be waiting to see how a particular licensing deal goes (Haruhi still hasn't been anounced by anyone so maybe Geneon's one of the players in that deal, unsure how high the price tag will be and unwilling to risk losing the deal.)
It's also possible in the case of the Shana OVA that they want to see how the sales are before spending any more on the franchise. No point in paying for the OVA if the series sells badly. (Don't see that happening, but there are some people who have bootlegs or downloads who will refuse to pay for the official version. I saw a little more than half of Shagukan no Shana fansubbed and I'm patiently wating for my volume 1 with CD combo pack to be shipped out. Accept no subsititues for the official unless it's been hacked up like One Piece.)
I can't even speculate on Higurashi. Haven't seen it and haven't read much about it. Looks like a good one and something that Geneon would gravitate toward based on past licenses. Maybe it's on their list.
My best guess overall is that they are in a "Wait and See" mode. Once they've got some solid numbers, we'll probably hear more from them. |
