I want someone (pls Anime Limited) to get the first season on BD right now, so I can start watching this.

Or i'll just have to go with the JP BDrips, because i've been wanting to watch this for so long, and seeing how this show gets a 2nd season after so long is really exciting. Can't wait for spring to come Shocked Very Happy Laughing!

'Bout time! Mushishi is one of the very few series where the manga came first but I prefer the anime, and seeing more of it will be awesome! Get the rest of the manga animated, ja? Hopefully Funimation will snag this along with the special and release it in a set or something. Hell, I might even do the uber rare thing of watching an ongoing series weekly as it comes out (since Mushishi doesn't exactly have an overarching plot). Oh and hopefully it will encourage Kodansha to rescue that title and re-release the manga? That would be nice too!

This is really cool for Mushishi fans, especially since Artland has been pretty inactive lately.

Now hopefully they can announce a sequel to Reborn! soon.

It's been long enough with both of them (and I should remedy that) that I can't quite recall, but didn't the anime cover most of the manga? How many chapters were left? Is there enough for a 13-episode season, or will there be some original stories? Not that the latter would be bad - the format of the show is such that extra stories would be easy to write, and hopefully write well.

Manga has 50 chapters first anime covered 25,meaning that a new season with 25 episodes can cover the rest of manga prefectly. Also it has been pretty much confirmed that it will be split cour.

Well, they're certainly not doing this to sell a lot more manga.
They likely just like the series enough that they think another season is viable.

Looks like I need to bump this one up on my to-watch list, so I can be ready for season 2!

Hooray! What fantastic news!

Does anyone know if this series did well for Funimation? I'm not against subs, but I thought they did a great job with the dub and I loved how they initially released it with the chip box and postcards. I would hate to see it get a bare bones Sentai release. (No offense Sentai! I appreciate how you pick up the niche titles!)

I totally agree with you, I loved Travis Willingham as Ginko, however the series did end up going into Funimation's S.A.V.E. edition line, not the Anime Classics. Sooooo it might have not performed to their expectations. I remember along time ago on one of those old Funimation Coming Soon pamphlets in a dvd box that they were going to put the series on bluray, but alas that never happened... -_-

They didn't show interest in the special so I assume their probably not interested in picking the series up. Oh well, at least Crunchyroll might pick up the second season to stream, and who knows maybe CR will get the first season to stream for new fans.
