Do want! Next they should do the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio or the Spring Temple Buddha in China. Though maybe The Motherland Calls in Russia would be more popular.

Might as well have an Abraham Lincoln figure showing him reclining on his armchair and enjoying some Billy Beer.

Check out the Japanglish inscription on the ad:
"Be free from all the restraints that bind you. Wreck all of the old ideas that tie you. One night will remind you how we've touched and gone our separate ways..."--(Er, oops, sorry. Razz ) "Be free from the idea of 'freedom' itself. The usual liberty is not perfect freedom."

Errmmm, yeah. Confused Sounds like some socially-discontented male Japanese teen artist doesn't quite know what's going on with the statue, but it must be bad if it's a Western symbol.

When I saw the title I thought it was going to be some sort of stupid girlie figurines in ecchi poses. But this is actually pretty funny.

*looking at statue of Liberty*

So how long until American consumers backlash over this (calling this a insult to our great country) and citing Pearl Harbor, Japanese buying up America in the 80's and raising anti-Japanese sentiment? Wink spoiler[Yes, I was being sarcastic, so don't take my statement seriously Laughing]

The creator probably saw "The Angels Take Manhattan" and wanted revenge for his pain and suffering.

I think the artist just got his countries confused:
"The Goddess of Liberty"?--No, that was that plaster thing that the students put up in Tianmen Square.

(Actually, the original Liberty was supposed to be looking back to France, the "home" of liberty--We just put in that little inscription spin to make it look like she was standing in front of us, and cut the French out of the equation. Razz )
