So which is better, Hamatora or Hamtaro?

Hamtaro of course. Quite cute hamsters...

I'm surprised to learn that Kishi directed Carnival Phantasm. Interesting.

Seiji Kishi should not be given any more projects. He's a terrible director. Simple as that.

Hey, Kamisama Dolls was pretty good. And Humanity Has Declined was alright. And um . . . er . . . actually I can't think of a third one. Arpeggio comes close but was too uneven. Persona 4 was too flawed. Angel Beats! was too steeped in Jun Maeda's BS. And Danganronpa was downright awful. Kishi really is lame.

Well I really don't like Hamatora but I like Danganronpa for the thriller.

I was able to keep on watching for a while because I liked Art, but the giant cucumber battle was too much for me to handle. Add that to how all the characters had cookie-cutter personalities and super forced flashbacks to make them sympathetic, and it was just all gah.

For anyone who finished watching, did spoiler[Art] stay dead? If he did I can finally rest assure that dropping this series was the best way to go

I stopped watching this at episode 5. I'm not really sure what kept me watching up to that point in the first place.

Well, Carl obviously really dislikes this show, but there is nothing in his review to actually preclude it from being a good show. Not saying it is good, mind....

Also, a couple of errors: "how brilliant and amoral and evil his schemes are" - are they amoral or evil? They can't be both.

"one hand pounding on the minor keys of a piano" - a keyboard doesn't have minor keys as such. Perhaps you mean dissonant chords or tone clusters...

This review is the reason why I don't like reading reviews from most people. not because I disagree but it's just wrong in parts that aren't opinion. Understandably when you are reviewing something you have to work in your opinion but when I review anime I try to be as factual as possible then label my opinion, give reasons for the opinion, and then give comparisons.

The art was very good and it's labeled as "interesting". It not only took chances but they payed off very well in looking good and being good. I'm honestly so many people hate it and like someone else mentioned are upset that it wasn't a better mystery. When I described the show I said it was an action/comedy that involve people who solve mysteries. The show isn't a mystery, even if the characters solve mysteries. If you don't get that I don't think you were paying attention well enough.

I think the relationship and showdown between the main character and main villian is very much like Cowboy Bebop, almost so much that it might of been a ripoff. That might be bad but if you don't think it's a ripoff and hate it, you must also not like that aspect of Cowboy Bebop. Ugh sorry for the rant. I'm not saying people can't dislike this show, I'm just boggled how my favorite show from the season is disrespected so badly.

Also for the most part, anime community seems to have liked Angel Beats and My Bride Is A Mermaid.

I love My Bride is a Mermaid but as it wasn't for the direction, I never looked up who did it.

Angel Beats has a concept I loath so nothing could save it; Flat character arcs supported by "OMG, so Sad!" reveals {which was the show} which range from horrifyingly tragic to stupidly tragic to, apparently "Hey, I died young" boringly tragic for the rest of the cast not worth mentioning {being cut short was a mercy for the show because everyone had a story; It's better left to the audience's imagination after awhile rather than topping the tragedy porn yourself}

It was lively and funny and had good music so for everyone out there who likes their objects to shine and flash, this was their show.

Hamatora? Never heard of it. And I still haven't.

Did you just compare Cowboy Bebop To Hamatora? I will not stand for this, you are hereby banished from this realm and declared dead in the eyes of all who knew you. Wink

It's not so much as people disrespecting the show. To be frank, Hamatora was really just a big mess.

I thought Angel Beats! was fantastic, and the ratings on ANN seem to agree. It is the 65th highest rated anime of all time. Sure, not number 1, but that's worth respecting. I really had no issue with the show. Also Humanity Has Declined got quite a bit of buzz back when it was airing, a lot of people seemed to like it. I haven't watched it yet myself, so I can't comment, but to say a director is complete **** is a bit of a leap after a single series. I am sure this is just terrible and all, but come on.
