Citation needed, comrade.

You do realize that there are some rather uncomfortable incestuous acts that go on between Ragyo and Satsuki right? I'm pretty sure that is also a really big issue as well considering America slightly more anal about these kind of displays in media.

I'm not sure fanservice would really be something that would keep it off the air though. I mean just look at Family Guy. I'd that is much more vulgar than a lot of fanservice oriented anime shows but that's just me.

And yet the giant human rights abuse that is the Deadman Wonderland facility, the various morally questionable acts that Public Security Section 9 and its enemies (especially its enemies) regularly engage in, and EVERYTHING that goes on in Black Lagoon (just wait until you get to the Hansel and Gretel arc) all get a pass. Incest didn't stop the powers that be at Williams Street from giving Sword Art Online its chance on air. Hell, Adult Swim's regular programming gets away with far worse on a regular basis.

Firstly SAO merely teased the idea of incest it was never set in motion. Just because someone states that they love their brother/sister does NOT make it incest. Second there ARE states in America that allow marriage with cousins. It isn't merely a japan thing. Sure Americans aren't nearly as open about it but it isn't taboo or anything like that. That's because biologically incest or inbreeding is only between siblings or immediate family. Biologically first cousins and further distance in bloodline aren't close enough genetically to be considered "incest", which is why first cousin marriages are legal in like 70% of the world.

You cannot compare SAO to the full blown sexual antics Ragyo has with Satsuki on a regular basis. They are mother and daughter therefore all the groping and fingering Ragyo does to her daughter counts as true full blown incest and would be severely frowned upon here.

As far as violence goes I'm not even sure why you brought that up. Adult Swim has had shows that are MUCH more violent than Kill la Kill such as Superjail so that's not the problem. Whether you believe it to be just or not violence is typically much more overlooked than possibly controversial sexual conflicts people might have with something. That's how things are regardless of how hypocritical it may sound.

The given the sort of hype the series has, I imagine whether or not it ends up on Toonami will rest on whether the advertisers will let them.

Really enjoying the series so far so I'm really interested in hearing how a dub sounds. Looking forward to it.

While don't know much about the characters, would like if Michelle Ruff and Wendee Lee were in this, as they're my favorite actresses.

I was thinking more of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as Satsuki, Michael McConnohie or Jamieson Price as Ira Gamagoori, and either Liam O'Brien or Crispin Freeman as Aikuro Mikisugi. Melissa Fahn can play Mako. Even with these VAs I wouldn't expect it to touch the Japanese cast, though.

I can't imagine anyone who could play Ryuko well.

Those are actually really good choices; however, I think Mary Elizabeth McGlynn might fit Ragyo better, but then again, I can't really think of a specific person who would play Satsuki.

Ami Koshizimu IS Ryuko; it'll take a really talented ADR director to find someone who can breath life into that role like Koshimizu.

Man I think that's an excellent choice, I think McGlynn would be perfect as either of them, she definitely has that tone. Also, the way she did some of Orochimaru's more creepy moments early in the first series and how she's fantastic at that projecting authoritative voice, she'd probably be fantastic as Ragyo's role grows throughout the show.

Yeah, Ryuko's gonna be the toughest in my opinion. Many of the usuals probably wouldn't work as well as possible. I'm still thinking about it, someone suggest maaaaybe Laura Bailey, she's one of my favs, I could see that working though I'm not sure who jumps out at me for her so far.

Yes to Hynden Walch, she'd probably be a fantastic Mako.

I like both of them a lot as well.

I hope Kari Wahlgren is in this. One of my favorites and I don't get to hear her as much with both Geneon and Bandai gone.

As someone mentioned Crispin Freeman would be good as Mikisugi, or maybe Kyle Hebert might be a good one too?
If he can handle the comedy as well as he handles the smoothness in some of his other roles.

I agree with Nonaka Machine Gun B, if JYB's in it he would make a rather good Inumuta.

Damn awesome news! Hope, it won't be censored too much, with all the fanservice (although, to be honest, I never saw US TV, since I'm living in Germany and all, but I heard, that the TV censors in the US have a stricter stance regarding sexual content than in Europe or, at least, Germany, whereas in Europe/Germany they have a stricter stance towards violent content and are more permissive towards sexual content) and, of course spoiler[the incestuous relationship b/w Ragyou and Statsuki and Nui (Ryuuko, too, but that could've been "just" a false memory to brainwash Ryuuko with)].

Despite your first paragraph being you spewing biased BS I finished reading the blog, and sadly your little wall o' text didn't improve.

The way you curve things towards the people who prefer dubs as being some kind of little angels while people who prefer to watch their anime subbed as "the bad guys" in the way the two groups express themselves about the sub & dub topic made me barf trampolines out of my nostrils. And yeah, anime is indeed a visual medium, I get it, but I can watch subbed anime and still have the same visual experience as you do with dubbed. You might have a hard time reading, but you don't need to come up with some grand excuse just to cover that up, as many people, especially those who have not grown up in an English speaking country can almost naturally watch TV series/movies subbed without missing a thing on screen.

+1

Something I tend to notice is that when people watch subs, they do it for the writing, not the visuals. You say you're getting the same visual experience subbed as dubbed, but unless one understand Japanese, one would need a way to understand the dialogue, and subtitles generally tend to serve as a distraction from the visuals. Just a cold hard fact.

Total BS. YOU may not be able to take in the visuals when watching a subtitled work, but that doesn't mean that other people can't. Making that kind of a statement clearly reveals how foolish and biased you are.
