Bleach (TV) Genres: action, drama, supernatural Themes: shinigami, spirits, superpowers, swordplay Plot Summary: Ichigo Kurosaki is a 15-year-old-boy who has an ability to see ghosts/spirits. Because of his ability, he is able to meet a female death god (AKA Shinigami) named Rukia Kuchiki. To save his family and friends from unwanted soul-eating spirits (Hollows), Rukia transfers her Shinigami powers to Ichigo. As Rukia takes on a human shell, together they solve mysteries involving spirits and Hollows until from the spirit world come two other Shinigami, who explain that it is illegal to transfer Shinigami powers to humans and that Rukia exceeded the time limit to stay in the human world. After they sentence her death for breaking the law, Ichigo snaps and swears to everyone he will retrieve Rukia by breaking into the spirit world. ---------------------------------- So did anyone see the "trailer" on [as]? It's nice that it is getting recognition... but they put it after Big O... WTF? Personally, I love Big O, but these forums seem to have more Big O haters than lovers so I'm almost positive this was a horrible descision on the part of [as]. Couldn't they probably fit it in right before Family Guy and after the 2nd Futurama episode? I'm 100% positive that more people were watching [as] during that time frame. My first impression of Ichigo's voice was... horrible. I'm pretty sure it will grow on me though. This is when I began to think to myself; "Would it be considered horrible if I had never seen the fansubs?". And I came to the conclusion that this is why some people hate dubs so much. They spent all the time downloading the series and hear it in Japanese, and then BAM!, the English version sounds like crap to them. So what were you're guys' thoughts on the "preview?" |

it came on during Crayon Shin Chan also.
i can't believe how long it's taken for them to even promote this series. i mean it's one of their biggest acquisitions. |

I missed Shin Chan, but I have to admit I love that show. Oh that's good that they aired it earlier, I thought they were basically digging it's grave before they aired it by airing the preview after Big O. So they are promoting it a little over a week before it airs... [as] never seems to dissappoint. I was surprised they've been showing those previews of Trinity Blood for a while now, but will it effect Bleach? |

Eh, the dub is pretty good imo. It's just a short clip so it's really not long enough to make a true judgement. I won't compare it the Japanese version, but compare to naruto, Bleach sounds pretty good.

In all fairness, all the fans and Bleach Babies (possible name to challenge Narutards and RIFs?) know when the day it willl come on, the channel, the hour, and its corresponding alignment with the Moon. Everyone knows about this or has heard it from their mama. Heck, I haven't had cable in my room or visited [as] in months and I knew about Bleach's arrival.

Exactly, but what about those people who are casual viewers and have no idea what Bleach is? Just cause the Bleach fans know, is no reason to not inform everyone else. They should be on a mission to infor everyone else so hopefully those other people will watch since the Bleach people will already be watching....

I'm kinda suprised they made it "soul reaper" instead of "shimigami", figured they'd least keep that the same. I renember watching the early fan subs where they used Soul Reaper, I guess it's for clarity purpose (always reminded me of Grim Reaper as well for some reason, which is kinda fitting for their job D

The English manga has been using Soul Reapers since it began. It was a given they'd use Soul Reaper over Shinigami/Death God for the dub/official release. |

Ok, for starters I'm glad I remember to time-tape Shin Chan this week, so I can watch that commercial.
Secondly, do they really say "soul reaper" in the commercial? I'm not making a big deal about it, tho Shinigami sounds cooler to me, I saw this (possibly fake) list of bleach episode titles on a certain message board: 1. A shinigami is born! 2. Pay or play 3. Sibling rivalry 4. And your bird can speak It could just be made up, I dunno. |

yes, Rukia says "I'm a soul reaper" in teh commercial.
I didn't know they had been using Soul Reaper in the english manga D: it's a fair translation I guess, I'd of prefered Grim Reaper but that sounds a lil too "evil" |

It's hard to formulate a good judgement of the dub in only a 30 sec clip, but my first impression is it doesn't sound too bad. Can't wait till next week.
I was wondering when there'd be promos for Bleach. Frankman's right though, a lot of people already knew about it; but I still feel they're a bit late on the promos. So they've decided to use "Soul Reaper," eh? I'm guessing they'll use "Soul Slayer" too. Not that I care mind you. |

Wow, I was pleasantly surprised. I wasn't expecting to like Bosch as Ichigo at all, but he sounds as if he'd fit the role just fine.
Michelle Ruff as Rukia was a perfect choice. From her few lines, I can tell she'll do a great job. The sound of her voice just clicks. |

After watching the trailer a couple more times, they played it like most of the night, it started to grow on me.
I'm glad they didn't use "Shinigami". That would probably confuse American viewers... Soul Reaper sounds perfectly fine to me. I hope this show takes off so we can get the games US releases. |
