Hisashi Eguchi is, according to Japanese Wikipedia, two people who do almost the exact same work.
江口寿史 Twitter Facebook Website
江口寿志

The man has said it himself a few times. We really ought to split out 江口寿志 and deal with the two voice credits which are probably a third person.

I would normally not post this until I did all the grunt work and presented a table, but I have to go so I'll try and do it tonight. This way I won't just forget about it again.

I think the voice credits are still the mangaka 江口寿史. He seems to be connected with anime director Akitaro Daichi on some projects going by Google searches and both of those roles are in anime Daichi directed. Hisashi Eguchi the mangaka is listed as part of the seiyuu cast for Gag Manga Biyori in the Japanese Wikipedia entry.

I see. And it's turning out that the roles are not as mixed as I initially thought. So far 江口寿史 has all the manga/original story type credits, 江口寿志 has all the animation credits, and they both have various character design credits. So it looks like Hisashi Eguchi (Animator) and Hisashi Eguchi (Illustrator) or Hisashi Eguchi (Mangaka). Table on the way.

Note 1: This source for Spriggan shows 江口寿史 for Animation Director and Character Design, but the twitter results in my first post specifically say that the mangaka had nothing to do with Spriggan.
Note 2: Paranoia Agent could do to have its animation credits cleaned up. Braves seems to have marked everything up, and he's a trustworthy dude.
Note 3: The Key animation credit for New Cutey Honey is 江口寿史, but I have my doubts.

I'm tempted to dig out my UK Collectors' Edition copy of Spriggan and see if there is anything said about the character designer in the Clementary.

I also want to point out that Justin's previous Pile of Shame article says the illustrator did do Spriggan's character design...

I have done the split, with the animator here. Thanks for going through all that information and getting it sorted out.

The fact that the illustrator had a part in Perfect Blue, and then the animator was involved in a number of Kon's later works, does seem to look like it could lend itself to a lot of confusion. The illustrator's part in Perfect Blue, however, was not "Character Design" キャラクターデザイン but "Original Character Design" キャラクター原案. I've made sure to correct that too.

Not sure if going back and editing a Pile of Shame article to make a minor correction is allowed (I can't do it anyway), but since it's mostly about the illustrator it points to the correct entry now. I think all of the ANN articles mentioning a "Hisashi Eguchi" are of the illustrator, but if there's any that's the other person, let me know and I can fix the green link.

Cool, thanks. I added the kanji for the animator using ja.wiki as a source, and the illustrator's twitter feed. I agree, all the news links are the illustrator. According to ja.wiki the animator should have the Non-Anime Staff credit for Sonic CD.

Thanks again, I'm marking this done in the OP.

The Moby Games credits listing used as the original source also notes "(Studio Junio)" which further proves that it's the animator as he works for that studio.
