My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU ranked first on the list? I'm happy to see that!

A large portion of the list hasn't been animated yet, so that's interesting to see. Some of the covers look pretty great. I imagine the majority will get anime adaptions in the future.

How is this list complied? I have never heard of 5-10, yet Mahouka is not on the list, nor Strike the Blood or DxD, all of which are at least from what I hear major hits and sell well.

I am not saying those ones are not good, just curious how they complie the list.

Escape Speed #7 cover looks interesting. Can anyone give me a small summary of the plot and what characters are like?

I believe it's a composite score between an online poll (popularity), a survey of select group who have read a lot of light novels (a picked group of otaku), and a survey of people inside the industry (often favors newer works). Those scores get combined in some way to make this final list, so it's not just a straight popularity poll. I'm not an expert on it, but that's what I've read elsewhere from people who know more than me.

So no girls' LNs made the list? Or do they have a separate list for those?

These covers......walking down the LN aisle in Japanese bookstores, the covers in the boys' section seldom show anything but girls, girls, girls, unlikely of proportion and often in ridiculously skimpy outfits......and then you come to the girls' LN section, where the covers feature mostly dudes, dudes, dudes. (Although heroines are depicted more frequently, they're often surrounded by reverse harems.)

Not exactly a bastion of subtlety, the LN aisle, but I guess they know their audience.

^I really want to refute what you're saying but the sad fact is that its true. The choice of cover illustration directly reflects the target audience of LNs. Apparently there's a stigma for male targeted LNs to always have at least one girl on the cover.

Though of course, there are always series that don't follow that trend 100% of the time. Its rare, but there are Index and SAO covers that only feature males or have the males as the focal point compared to the female.

But hey, look at Escape Speed's cover. The guy is the focal point.

I know LNs are a tough sell over here, but has anybody licensed SNAFU for an Englsh version?

No separate list. The last time off the top of my head a LN for girls made any list in Kono LN was when Shibuya Yuuri from the MaruMa series (aka Kyou Kara Maou) made the top ten list for male characters a long while back.

There is a similar publication that ranks BL manga and novels, though.

That's what I'm thinking. The cover art prelude i think to things to come if the Light Novels sell well.

To be honest, I've never read those light novels so I don't know how ell their written to warrant them getting bumped up by media to point where anime is being made.
