episode fourteen
This episode makes me glad they never gave Qwenthur a gun. It'd just ruin the whole thing.
If Baby Magnum is out of commission for a little while, I wonder what Milinda will be up to? I'm hoping they find some novel way to keep her involved in some way. It'll throw off the character comedy to not have her in the mix.

Episode 15:
So the Ohoho girl is back...sigh. She obviously has a rivalry with the elite princess that began all the way from awhile ago. Is it just me or does that pool playing scene feel tempting? The butt jokes got a bit awkward though..
And anyways, this arc in Alaska might be interesting with that cliffhanger. The boys better be careful~

Episode 15
Okay, that is funny, the cliché big boobed laughing girl, was in fact a loli. She is smaller than Melinda, and using the computers to change how she looked on camera. I guess that explained why she had a screen in her cockpit that showed herself, I thought that did not make sense but was actually foreshadowing.
Also, Frolaytia has a team of girls who I guess have it in their mission statement to look down on Havia and Qwenthur. Large breasts and tights sounds like someone in particular.

episode fifteen
Now they've done it, they've created two cliffhangers in one episode. First, what happens to poor Qwenthur inside Ohoho's Object. Second, what happens with Qwenthur kicking Froylatia's ass. It's almost too much to bear for an entire week.
Jokes aside, their maze strategy and the enemy's counter strategy were both some of the more down-to-earth things they've done in the ploy department, without being boring. Apparently, in the horrible Object dystopia, acquiring and maintaining ownership of porn requires similar levels of planning.

Episode 16:
One of my favorite episodes so far.
The singing felt kinda awkward but the excitement of the battle was up in the air. Ho Ho Ho fights using her Object while Milinda and Qwenthur struggles to defeat her. Then again, that Ho Ho Ho girl also underestimated her own enemies. Ha.

Episode 16 managed to be the best episode so far even though I hate in-universe singing like that. Rest in peace, G-cups, and probably Qwenthur too, if he doesn't go ahead and explain to Milinda that it was all part of a strategy.

I am also of this opinion, it was ludicrous but I love it.
Little miss Oh ho ho was an intriguing antagonist, she doesn't want to defeat the protagonists out of intentional malice as it is simply part of her job and that is part of the reason she is so interested in Qwenthur.
This is also the first episode in series that we have an antagonist that has been painted ahead of time, at least personality wise, and we are delivered a worthy battle both for Heavy Object's name sake and as well the usual human element of Qwenthur in a surprising location in the heart of the enemy Object.
I would honestly be surprised if within the remainder of the season the story telling elements line up so nicely with such a worthwhile bout, but if they can this will be a season that I would have to actively recommend to others.

Episode 16
So Qwenthur managed to put the AI into an infinite logic loop, and then trick the pilot into running away after disabling all automatic functions, securing an entire Object. Regardless of a team effort and whatnot, that has to be impressive.
As awkward as the music was, it being used to piss of Melinda was funny. Also Qwenthur unintentionally screaming along with the music. I think that the singing was washed out by a lot of the sound of the Object was also intentional, and just how surreal it was was worth a snigger. Not to mention Qwenthur literally crying from finding out the cake is a lie.
I liked this episode. From looking at comments I just compared this week's OP to the previous ones, they now have Oh ho ho has now been changed in the OP to reflect how she actually looks. Also, she is actually credited as Ohoho, there is no name actually given.

When you see Ohoho at the end of the episode next to her handler, it is obvious that she is younger than she appears even when Qwenther first sees her. Obviously younger then Melinda who is 14. This now explains why Melinda is an experienced fighter who mentions having more combat experience.
Anime has always run to child soldiers. With supernatural series it is not as obvious since it is "destiny" or the MC is somehow "special". However it always seems to be high school age kids "saving the world", sometimes even middle school age. In this show it becomes more obvious since these are real soldiers. The Elites are apparently recruited (or worse drafted) as pre teens. It makes some sense as Ohoho when working multiple screens and keyboard looked like a kid playing a complicated video game.
So with Frolaytia at 18 (though she looks and acts much more mature), and Melinda at 14, I guess Qwenther and Havia are likely still high school age. Add in Ohoho at 10 or 12 and you have a new take on the old concept of An old man's war but a young man's fight (which needs to be adjusted for gender but doesn't sound right that way).
On a different note, Havia has again punched Qwenther for being oblivious to Melinda's interest in him. I realize that the romantically clueless main character is a longstanding concept, but it makes sense in story here. They have set this up as a very aristocratically run society. They have apparently elevated the Elites to an aristocratic level, possibly in compensation. Qwenther in the first episode actually wonders if he is allowed to talk to Melinda outside the base. While he gets over that, I suspect he simply cannot believe she is interested in him. Havia being an aristocrat doesn't understand Qwenther's attitude. It makes you want to tell Qwenther and shake some sense into him, but he might not believe it if you did.

I think Qwenthur's obliviousness is starting to test my patience a bit. When someone tells you that you need to explain imaginary women to someone or else they'll be angry, they might as well be hitting you in the head with it.
That said, I think my favorite moment of this latest episode may have been Ohoho's very confused commander. I wonder if she'll end up with a grudge against everyone's favorite engineer as well.

Episode 17:
Ah so begins the Kamchatka Peninsula arc that introduces new characters, a cool soldier (Charlotte), and cute reporter (Monica). The buildup felt meh at first with the info dump but I find it kinda important to understand the concept of their mission.
The ending got me interested with that cliffhanger....
That doesn't look good for Charlotte or Qwenthur.

Ep 17
This is an amazing level of dropping the ball when it comes to story telling.
I may have left a tone about Active Raid's latest episode promoting background characters, but Heavy Object is taking the cake by promoting characters that until this episode that DID NOT EXIST in the narrative.
Maybe if I take the time for a rewatch some of these new faces will have been animated in the background, but the main issue is that the audience is supposed to feel something about betrayal or a murder when the characters effectively come out of thin air as far as the writing process is concerned.
For me, the issue is the drop in quality from building up the best battle episode so far into this mediocre "oh by the way, there are other staff members" set up into a poorly executed stinger.
Maybe this is a saving throw and it will work out for the season's conclusion.

Well the comments of one of the new guys seemed to imply that they only just got assigned to Froylatia's unit. As for why it must be things like managing to capture an entire Object that has pushed the higher ups to think that maybe they should them more of what they already have. Young soldiers and students that show some level of ingenuity, and putting them onto a particularly difficult amphibian object situation.
They also seemed to put in Charlotte, some sort of military police like thing, to make sure they are not doing wrong things. She looked a bit scary but she actually seems pretty sweet. She sounded quite fond of what Qwenthur said about his father, and it looked like she was more worried about his safety than other obligations.
I do agree that the episode was kind of messy, more than usual I had to rewind a couple times to understand what was happening. Rather than shocked betrayal that a character turned on them, I felt more that the series betrayed my expectations by one of the new characters, and who is in the opening, turn out to betray them and another killed. Kind of cool I had my expectations, kind of like how Ohohoho being large breasted in the opening, and then find something come out of left field.
Other noticeable moments too like Froyalatia being flustered where she could not act like her normal self. The reporter, Monica, is hinted at to be the daughter from Qwenthur's story. And cannot forget Qwenthur's "you're the only one for me baby!" said to Milinda, of course without much thought on his part.

Hard to see how Qwenthur is going to turn this one around.
