Oi, this is what happens when you watch too many shows ... when I posted my reply, my brain thought we were discussing Seiren, not Fuuka. It's really sad that given the context we could actually be talking about either protagonist. I agree with you, the milquetoast in this show is even drippier than Seiren. One of the toughest parts about watching this show is to suspend disbelief enough to imagine that not just one, but two chicks, dig him.

(So to be clear the jean shorts ass I was talking about was in Seiren, not Fuuka.)

while I don't think its that difficult to believe they are interested in him, Koyuki would be the easiest to explain. reality and imagination haven't melded yet. she probably still believes he's still the way he was when they were younger, and not shy and introverted.

She has done a bit to come back from her earlier problems with breaking his phone, she seems to repent that and helped him look for his lost phone. She interacts with him while he has problems socialising, they have been on two dates (movies and concert), she looks a bit of a mystery with not even needing a phone, and clearly he is attracted.

Yeah I think the whole phone breaking thing was really stupid as was the other initial animosity in the first half of the first episode, but everything after that was good.

I can totally see the attraction both ways here. From his perspective she acted VERY cute on and after the first date and had a really nice interaction on the second date. he heard her beautiful singing voice, and them talking about her frustration in life is some more intimate bonding. and she saved him in the water. She's clearly an interesting person with whom he's developing a bond. Plus, she is pretty hot. All of that seems to be a recipe for attraction to me.

From her perspective, he listened to her frustrations, said he loved her voice and inspired her to sing, bailed her out of the track meet thing (its interesting how from his perspective he's embarrased that he was wrong about what was going on, but she didn't really notice that and was focusing more on the fact that he was paying attention to her and bailing her out). I Imagine he's a pretty attractive guy himself, too. All of that seems to be a recipe for attraction as well.

Well, I was actually enjoying this show...right up until that stupid 'Male protagonist clumsily falls into boob grab so he can be slapped for being a baka/perv' crap. Way to ruin the mood people.

So they introduced Sara into the story..

That personality shift though. Wow. It's like she completely changed her character within a span of a few seconds after realizing it's Yuu she was talking with. Also, I think she's a bit jealous of Fuuka.

Btw, I personally think they should change up their songs. Fuuka does a good job at singing but I want to hear something different in style.

I'd really love to know what cologne the MC is wearing because apparently it makes every chick in the world want to have him despite possessing the wimpiest personality possible. Only in the fantasy world of otaku mentality would a beta-boy like this inspire so much female craving.

With the episode I thought most happily with how he and Sara could be great as friends, I am pretty sure they both need them and cool that they already know each other online. I can totally sympathise with the trouble communicating thing, like in recent times my brother has brought his girlfriend over and I have appeared (tended to) avoid her, like not talking to her and leaving rooms around her. I am sure it looks rude, but that is kind of how being shy and trouble talking to people works, I think that I have even done the thing where someone sat at a table and I walked away. And when I do get comfortable I can talk quite a bit, just like how Sara started, so I feel compelled to like her. The romance harem thing might messy it though.

I find it REALLY hard to believe that Yuu could transcribe music without knowing how to read/write music, especially a non-melodic part like the bass line. Unless he has perfect pitch hearing, getting the right notes/chords is quite difficult to transcribe. It would be way more believable if he was given sheet music (but there is the problem of reading it) but he is shown with a book with a bunch of blank staves so it is safe to assume he was just transcribing. That's not even getting into the nuances of rhythms and various techniques that may be used. For Mikasa it doesn't feel as odd to me that he picks up the keyboard quickly since it is pretty much the same as piano and he was a good pianist.

Anyways it looks like Yuu got his harem set (Fuuka,Koyuki, and Sara). I'm going to guess Fuuka is going to be the main girl (the show is called Fuuka) but I'm curious how the other girls will react (especially Sara since she is shown to get jealous quickly).[/spoiler]

Seems like Fuuka and Tama are getting better than expected.

Yeah, but I wonder how long that's gonna last? Watch the fur fly when these two hellcats figure out they are jonesing for the same beta boy. So Yuu-sless was a pathetic crybaby even as a kid, eh? What a shock.

Don't take my slamming of Sadsack as any kind of indication that I'm not enjoying the show, because I am. As I said after the first two eppies, this is a straight-up romance and I'm kind of digging that simplicity.

This may be the wrong thing to have caught my attention but:

Was Koyuki's coat the kind you can just chuck in the washing machine? (Also, she looks better in glasses)

Episode 7:

There's some real questionable framing on some of this. For example, when Koyuki announces to the world that she knows this dude from when he was a kid, everyone acts like she dropped a bombshell. Then she announces the actual bombshell (that she had a crush on him) and very little of the framing represented that part as the significant detail. The music didn't even change bars. It was all blended together into one general reaction that didn't seem quite appropriate.

Fuuka's working hard to enhance her bitchy reputation by starting the episode mad at invertebrate-kun for no reason.

Oh I was actually hoping they would perform this episode. Oh well.

Tama's got some guts sharing that news to the world.

Since when is jealousy not a reason to be angry at someone? Plus the fact that once again his utter spinelessness caused him not to mention that he had seen Koyuki after Fuuka told him about bumping into her and sharing a bath. This time the insurmountable obstacle to his ability to say the normal thing was that...

...Fuuka was crossing the street as he was starting to mumble something about being invited to to Koyuki's concert. Oh yes, of course, that would make it impossible to speak after that. Rolling Eyes

I really hope this limpdick gets clocked with a beer bottle next episode.
