I can't even remember what reason the show gave for Tzaka's temporary turn to evil magi-mechanic, aside from some vague hints of spooky powers making him do bad things similar to the Primal Beasts we've seen go bad thus far.

That's exactly what they did, you aren't forgetting anything. He didn't even remember Io in the show while he does in the game. Also the change they made so that he was the one that built Colossus from scratch was kinda sketchy too.

Yeah, I think those are terrible changes; the game's version sounds much better. I can't understand why they would do that. It's never worthwhile to take a substantially character-driven, character-and-world-developing event and turn it into something largely unexplained except for some handwaving towards not-even-explained in-world magical mechanics. I mean, I guess there are occasions in which the substantive version requires too much time to do justice, but it certainly doesn't seem like that was the case here, and there's plenty of throwaway material in each of these episodes that could have been cut to make room for a genuinely good character motivation & world-building moment with Tzaka.

From what you said it sounds like we've got a long time before Granblue tries to tell a decent story. Guess that just means we shouldn't change our expectations of the show; so far it's been a largely episodic tour of an interesting looking world through the eyes of some incredibly vanilla, vaguely motivated shells of fantasy archetypes, and I guess it'll continue to be that. The world at least looks like it's reasonably well developed; it would be nice if the show would help us engage with it more meaningfully. Will be neat to see a few more locations at least, I s'pose.

The 2 treasure hunter girls are recruitable side characters in-game.
If structured right, we could see more potential cameos by other recruitable characters in future seasons.

I've heard one reason the Granblue Blurays sell well is because they contain codes for in-game bonuses and perks. This seems like both a smart and dirty method to push sales.

It was good that they finally gave some explanation of why/how Vyrn and Gran are together. I wish they would have done more, and told us where Vyrn came from, but it was good that they at least put the effort into explaining how they grew up together and are close friends. I really felt like that was the main benefit from the episode. The dungeon was fun as an RPG type adventure, but it was a diversion from the plot so nothing new was really done for the story other than the Vyrn/Gran development.

Still an enjoyable episode, but not much meat to it.

According to the map they showed half a dozen times, the party could've hired a carriage and driven right up to it.

So, what exactly is Rackam's garter belt holding up? His chaps seem to go up to his waist like you'd expect, so why does he need the garters attached to them?

At first I thought Gran recognized the sword, like maybe it was his father's, which would explain him being immediately drawn to it, and how moody he was acting (and Vyrn noticing) afterward, but since he tried to give it away, I'm not sure what to think.

Hopefully game-players won't tell me.

For those interested in the cameos from the game, episode 8 featured Mary and Karva, as well as a somewhat stock miniboss known as the Clay Golem.

Episode 9 featured, without naming them, Lowain, Elsam, and Tomoi, as well as Karteira:

I love this show. Something about the animation and characters just hit my fantasy sweet spot. I know nothing about the game, so I'm looking at it from a newcomers perspective - and my only gripe is that it is a short series. I like the fact that it's not in a hurry to ramp up the stakes, but at the same time it better have a sequel. I absolutely hate rushed endings. It's a simple fantasy tale with evil villains (we need more villains who are just ridiculously bad, imho - they end up being more fun that way).

Don't worry. I feel like they're going with this pacing because it'll have a sequel. The story's nowhere near the end. We would need around 6 or 7 seasons like this one to get to the source material (the game) and even that still isn't anywhere near the end. Heck, we're going through the main story which doesn't count the backstory every character has (and you can play it when you acquire said characters), plus Free Quests (Side quests of sorts) that are unlocked every time you finish a chapter. Sometimes it even unlocks several.

So yeah, don't worry, if you're liking GBF now, then you'll love it later. My only gripe is that that "later" is really later. xD

I wonder if there's some significance to the rainbow being backwards. That's such an amateurish mistake to make I can't help but think it's not a mistake, like something to do with the magical physics of floating islands and oceans in the sky.

Differences between the anime and the game:
>Eugen's voice
>In the game, the crew were cornered by the resistance group first before Eugen comes in.
>In the anime, Eugen warns them and immediately recognizes Rackam.
>In the game, the crew tells Eugen they were going to Estalucia before he explains the situation that Auguste is at war with Erste. It's flipped in the anime.
>Eugen was implied to have helped repair Grandcypher in Port Breeze in the game (this confused me too, tbh). This is his first appearance in the anime.
>Practically everything else is unique to the anime: the sightseeing, the errands, Rosetta, Katalina's cook—no wait, that's the same...

Took this from the GBF reddit.

I know the anime probably won't have time to cover it, but does the game ever reveal the goals and endgame of the Erst Empire? What are the reasons for their wars and experiments? Who and why does their leader want this?

Ps. Spoiler free yes or no is accepted.

Short answer: yes. A lot more gets explained regarding Erste Empire.

Have no idea about the Extra thing, but the pink color and the VA, makes me think it'll be about Djeeta, the ingame name of the Female version of Gran. She's not canon, but some Events alluded to the fact that she was Gran's older sister or something like that. She doesn't appear in the main story and neither is the MC referred to with a female pronoun.

The player base is quite divided on this. On one side, Djeeta fans will be super happy, on the other, this only means that we won't be getting to Albion even if they super rushed stuff.

I'm happy either way, because Cygames said that they'll keep animating if it sold well and last time i checked the sale number was at 44k.

Except she does if you play as her instead of Gran

If by "she does" you mean "she only appears as a female to you", then i guess so. Neutral
