You must not be a light novel reader then, as the effects of Disappearance don't start to become clear until the stories that happen afterwards. I have to say that this is probably the biggest issue of the series just kind of ending after Disappearance. As a huge fan of the novels as well, the real impact of Disappearance isn't felt until afterwards, and we really don't get anything from the afterwards due to this premature ending.

So, yeah, I can understand why the initial post mentioned it comes across as a consequence free prank; since we are missing the pivotal aftermath to the event and how its effects.

Ironically, Disappearance being a film is part of the reason none of what comes next got animated.
