NIMBYism doesn't really apply to the Texas project: it's a private concern that intends to invoke an old law granting railroads the power of eminent domain, completely sidestepping the problem. Needless to say, it's being fought tooth and nail by those that would be affected; so far they've managed to ensure not a single dime of state money will go to the project and get at least one injunction questioning their claim of eminent domain power. Unless they manage to get a definitive declaration of that power and pull a boatload of cash out of their asses, it's pretty much all over but the crying.

Do you mean that under Texas law, it's hard to protest against building railroads so the NIMBYs don't have much power?

For the record, they don't in California either. What they seem to be doing is a sort of financial filibustering, repeatedly challenging the High Speed Rail Authority both to slow them down and to waste as much of their money as possible. The group assigned to build the rail have won most of their court cases, so the NIMBYs have resorted to trying to send their budget out of control. This has successfully turned public opinion against the high speed rail, as they point to its ballooning budget and lack of progress. (There was an election for the local city council a few months ago, for instance--over half of the candidates had "I will stop the California High Speed Rail" as a primary selling point, who want the money diverted to build more roads and widen existing ones. But perhaps my view of the rail is distorted due to where I live, because other sources I'm seeing have more people in favor of the rail than against it as far as the general population goes.)

I had the impression things were about the same in Texas due to its similarly strong car culture (I heard some major roads in major cities in Texas don't even have sidewalks), lack of options for public transportation, and the fact that NIMBYs don't care where the money is coming from, just that, well, they don't want the trains in their backyards.

They don't necessarily have as much power as Texas Central is claiming; the law's there, but they haven't proven they have the right to invoke it(the mere fact that you plan on laying down tracks isn't enough).

Believe it or not, the state of Texas is actually getting help from investors and train specialists from Japan to have their rail made since Japan is famous for inventing what's called the "Bullet Train" or "Shinkansen" first introduced in the 1960s.
Like I mentioned, Texas Central(the name of the company) isn't going to be getting an ounce of public funding; their entire budget will have to come from whatever mystery backers they have. And, if they don't get that eminent domain right approved by the courts, that will almost certainly be insufficient.

I have some sympathy for the NIMBYers. I used to live just under a mile from an active railroad track. Most nights a slow moving freight would go thru about a half an hour after we went to bed. You could not only hear it pass but you could feel it shake the ground at that distance. I have no idea what a high speed passenger train would be like, but I doubt it would be a good neighbor.

While the whold ADV, Sentai, Fimworks, and Funi talent pool crossovers has been going on for years, one might wonder how it began. Vic Mignogna was the 1st ADV voice actor to work at Funi.

ADV never used the same stable of actors... even up to their end in 2008,

Uh yeah, they did, pretty much.

Every single ADV anime I've seen had Andy McAvin in a role for example.
