This actually sounds fairly interesting, I'm not really sure if I'd want to buy it... and I'm not normally the type to do this, but I may have to give a chapter or two a preview read at the bookstore.

Good review that more or less sums up the strengths and weaknesses of the book (the use of the manga-emotions really felt tacked on to me, like an editor told her "We need it to be more manga-like"). Of all Tokyopop's global manga titles this is the one that impressed me the most, especially considering its from such a young creator. I can't wait to see how Kim develop's her craft in future works. Great to see some josei-influenced comics, especially Nananan Kiriko-influenced, being created.

Is it just me, or is Tokyopop starting to publish more artistic stuff than usual? I know I have lacking background evidence (making this the second "experimental" manga after Dolis), but it makes me wonder if maybe Tokyopop will keep up the trend or not.

I hope to see more of June Kim's stuff too. 12 Days fell short in a few places but maybe the artist just needs more experience. I felt a bit thrown off by the lack of backgrounds. It seems sort of...empty or hollow.

Hmm, well I can't say I've noticed more "artistsic" stuff, but good art obviously sells, so TP might be using that as a sales pitch. If catchy art does well, they'll probably continue it. I remember they had Shurei (artist of Alichino) do the cover for some OEL, but I can't remember what the title is. I see a lot of gothic manga though, that's obviously a trend.
