Is there no chance of us getting a re-release of Nisemonogatari and Monogatari Second Season with the character commentaries? =\ I haven't bought any of the releases after Bakemonogatari because they're not included... My guess is that it's to prevent reverse importation, but if it's several years after maybe...??? =\ Has anyone ever asked AoA when they go to conventions?

The lack of one little extra is keeping you from buying these? Confused

Are they really that great a bonus? Is there even a subtitle track for them on the Bake release? (Aniplex tends to forget subtitling extras) I rearely even look for extras nowadays, because there's never anything good on discs anymore. I miss ADV's original stuff like the "Conversations with SSS" on the Madlax DVDs and giggle counters or dubbing outtakes with the cast messing around or screwing up lines.

Yes, they are subtitled on the Bakemonogatari release and the character commentaries are a HUGE extra. They're not just a little throw-on like non-credit opening and endings, and they are way better than "dubbing outtakes." Come back after you've actually watched Bakemonogatari with the character commentary on and you'll understand why I'm disappointed they're not included on later releases. I'd happily pay an extra 20 bucks per release if they were. It's like getting double the episodes.

@Kruszer
What it amounts to is a full length commentary for every episode. Each is done by the one of the voice actors in character, scripted by the original writers. As GokuMew2 says you get double the episodes. They actually provide additional insight into some of the episodes.

This is a tremendous loss on the later series. Not enough to prevent me from buying them but a loss never the less.

finally, koimonogatari is released, that's the one I want.
me and kaiki are tight.

I dont know how I feel about having to buy rebellion again, though.
I'm glad people who like dubs get the opportunity to buy it, but I'm probably gonna pass.

@Kruszer the commentaries themselves could be a standalone set its like getting to watch the show again with a different script. After two years I've finally sat through all of them, some were a struggle but most worth while. You really need to be a big fan of Nisioisin writing to fully appreciate them all as I've discovered. The Mayoi ones in particular were mostly nonsense to me. All in all top tier digital extra. Very rarely would something like these be translated.

Interesting, it'll be a few years before I'll probably feel like watching it again though. I don't rewatch something unless I haven't seen it for a while and am missing it or have forgotten details of what happens, and I just watched part of ~Monogatari (Tsukimonotagari) last week. Also something that's subtitled-only tends to lower the rewatchability factor since it's a hassle for me (bad eyesight).

@Kruszer the subtitles fly by super fast on the commentary I had to pause/rewind a few times to catch everything. Monogatari as a whole took a not for me to get into because of how wordy it is. Trying to understand the Japanese without subtitles is an incredible chore I really applaud the folks that are translating the franchise. The fast-paced dialogue reminds me of Tatami Galaxy.

I never learn. I bought the import version of the first two Madoka movies and then they brought out a cheaper domestic dubbed version. I did not mind that much as my version had the soundtrack CD and the domestic set did not. Now after I bought the import version of the 3rd movie they come out with a cheaper version that not only has a dub but also has the soundtrack CD (I assume it is the same one included with the import release) and possibly extra content not on the import version (I wonder what the "collaboration manner videos" are), although there is content on the import which is not on this new release (some of which I think is actually subtitled).

Well, I've had mine for 9 months (actually got it in April so 1 year before this one came out) and watched the movie, and since I pretty much always watch anime subbed I'm not concerned about that, but I would like to save some money whenever possible.

At least I can finish Monogatari Second Season now that Koimonogatari is coming.

Aniplex website now has a pic of the DRRR!! BD re-release set up. Looks something like this:

Looks like the original box just missing the lunchbox and other extras. They probably will not have fixed the subtitle signs either. Doesn't say whether box is chipboard or cardstock paper sleeve. I hope its at least chipboard.
