So, if you pass this test, should you be proud or sad ? |

I understand he is the copyright holder and he has the right to sue anybody he understands has infringed on his properties. But this is way to extreme in my opinion though my knowledge of copyright issues is very limited. I would have understood if the line in question was some sloggan he used on any of his works that identify it. Correct me if I am wrong. This sort of issues still confuses the hell out of me. BTW, I write lyrics thats oemtimes involves anime titles and now I will think it twice before making any reference that can be deemed a copyright violation. |

READ THE ARTICLE. Matsumoto is not the one suing Chemistry. Chemistry are suing him because he demanded an apology from them for ripping off a key phrase from one of his major works. Personally, I don't think it makes much sense to sue a guy for asking you to merely apologize when you swipe something of his, but then again, we do live in the age of frivolous litigation. Here's hoping the case is thrown out, because it's really utterly stupid. |

The way I see it, Makihara is suing alledging Matsumoto slandered him because of that. Now I wonder if Makihara ever contacted Matsumoto to express his side of the story because I feel there is a serious communications breakdown in here.

In that I agree. Today lawsuits are the playpen for people to throw at each other like mud, not realizing how serious this stuff is. |

Yeah, I saw that and at first thought it was odd and frivolous, but perhaps the suit is a slander suit, as Matsumoto did accuse him of essentially being a talentles thief, just not in as many words. In that case, it's still petty, but at least there's a patina of legalistic reasoning behind it. |
