Same here. Eventually, I would have liked to travel on one of their tours.

I ran a couple of searches and found a few but they aren't as involved as Pop Japan.

A few months ago, I read a posting here about a company doing research for the possibility of running tours like Pop Japan. However, I’ve not seen it lately.

True; JTB used to run one during the Tokyo Anime Fair. They even ran one back in 2002 for the Kichijoji Character festival (Kichijoji is a western suburb of Toyko, in an area that hosts many animation and manga staff as well as being next door to the Ghibli Museum in the suburb of Mitaka).

They never really got a huge response though, and I think they've also stopped doing their tours.

Were you referring to IACE Travel? They have a Tokyo Anime Fair Package. Again it's not as involved as PJT.

I did find out on japan-guide.com that a few companies do list some tour packages, but they mostly focus on the culture and history of Japan than anime.

Also I found the thread of a company representative stating interest in an anime and manga tour. It has not been active for some time.

Wow, that sure didn't take that long to bust. It seems like only yesterday they were taking their very first group over. I never bothered with PJT because it didn't seem like it saved you any money and their exclusive access stops just didn't look like they were worth the added trouble of trying to work within PJT's specific schedules. I guess it shouldn't be much of a surprise with most Americans lacking a passport and many Japanese goods and services being more costly than similar expenses in much of Asia, Australia, continental Europe, Africa, and South America.

No. I meant the USA branches of JTB.

When I joined a JTB tour from Australia to the first TAF back in 2002, I ended up together with people who'd come from the USA East Coast. Dunno if they still offer TAF tours from the USA; I didn't get an ad for such a tour from JTB Australia this year.
