The URL has now been updated. (Though there is little reason to use the "official" Amazon URLs when shorter ones are available.) |

| This looks like the same bootleg set that's being sold on eBay of $25. Really, if people did a little research, they'd save themselves quite a bit of money...But still, Amazon needs to be responsible for their mis-marketing. I wonder if they could be sued for this?
I actually just today bought Sailor Moon Stars on eBay today for $22 after watching a free DVD with some great 5th season Nehelenia episodes. I'm looking forward to finally seeing it, but I'd still definitely buy the 5th season if Geneon or someone put out an official box set....don't see that happening, though. And I'm not quite a dedicated enough fan to buy the Japanese DVDs on Yahoo! Japan Auctions, which seems like it'd cost $200-300, plus the cost of a region-free DVD player, and the fact that there'd be no subs.... |

| They also forgot to add "With crappy Subtitling"
That boxset is also sold on Ebay. and the subtitles are horrible and there are quite a few lines that don't have subtitles at all. I know 'because I got the boxset from Ebay. So i tried another one of the boxsets and it turned out to be the same people who subbed it the last time. This is what made me want to learn Japanese, so I wouldn't need subs. Though I still have an extreamly extreamly long way to go before i can get there. Though I would diffenitly by the licensed one if there would ever be one. I would be happy even if it was just an offical Subtitle only boxset. |

| Wow, how did I miss this? Sailormoon news on my birthday?
I'm very staunchly against bootlegs. I feel rather passionately about the need to buy legitimate product rather than fansubs in order to support the industry (though I do, on occasion, still use fansubs as samplers, just like back in the old "1 VHS - 3 EPISODES - SUB ONLY - $60!!!" days of anime clubs). However, this is one where I have to be somewhat ambivalent. Just this past Christmas, after just over a decade of waiting, I intentionally put the subs of Sailor Stars on my wishlist. I included the appropriate internet link, and did receive the full set, as burned direct from the Canadian fansubber, on Xmas day. While I'd love to have an official copy, Toei's BS over this series and their shameless antics against Takeuchi have left me somewhat disenfranchised with the whole thing and I was tired of waiting for something that will probably never happen. It's been a thrill to finally see how the series ends. So with all that said, I can't say that in this particular case I'm very firmly against a bootleg set being sold, even by an official company. The amount of money some of us poured into supporting that series domestically really leaves no excuse for Toei having pulled the plug. This is the one case where I feel that "illegal" fansubs are justified. What I am infuriated by in this particular instance is the price they're charging. With the entire series plus the Supers specials that I got for Xmas having cost roughly $25CAD including shipping, that's a pretty nice profit margin for anyone who sells it at $70US. It's a damn shame, too, because fansubs being put through a mainstream middleman like that could be a great thing for longtime fans of the series. However given the circumstances, as long as there's no lawsuit, I really can't say I'm surprised amazon would continue to sell it, even blatantly flaunting the bootleg label. |

Well, it looks like they FINALLY took this bootleg down... The link doesnt work at all, now, and the results for a sailor moon search show this item as "not currently available." That's one down, only 49,999 left to go. LOL |

Gee, and it only took 6 months to take care of it. But 3 days after numerous comments here isn't that bad. |

| Better have it bootleg than never seeing the series in your entire life! | ||||||

That one Canadian fansubber used to make _EVERY_ VHS and SVHS tape directly from laserdisk, so every one was a master. For almost the last year, before he closed down, he was burning the Sailormoon Sailor Stars fansubs from laserdisks to DVDs. Those are what you want to find copies of. His website is still there, though inactive, frozen in time. Bruce |
