Just came back from the ANN encyclopedia.
Apparently he wrote the script for one of my all time favorites, Trigun. (I don't know these things off the top of my head)
Couple that with the FMA director directing, then you'll have reassured me (for now) that my favorite anime franchise is in capable hands.. |

Thank God Hisashi Hirai isn't doing the character designs. |

Yes, but he also wrote s-CRY-ed, which made me CRY-ed when I saw it.
Still, I do love Trigun and what he did with it. |

I will agree that I really just don't get S-Cry-Ed. It just seemed like a off beat shounen fighting series. It reminded me of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure without the big epic legacy of generations. There were a couple interesting episodes in the middle with Ryuho losing his memory, but for the most part the series seemed like a bunch of powering up and fighting. As I mentioned on a recent Gundam thread I really am not fond of Hirai's designs, and the S-Cry-Ed characters all look like they are straight from Fafner, or Gundam Seed. I've always liked versatile artists over a strong style which goes back to the Kanno over Kajiura debate. The ending of S-Cry-Ed, much like Kuroda's Infinite Ryvius left me a bit disappointed since both series and felt uninspired. In S-Cry-Ed Kazuma decides to fight because he likes fighting, while in Ryvius the kids forgive each other and everything is happy.
I don't really hate S-Cry-Ed (I actually have two copies of volume one for Ryvius and S-Cry-Ed since I gave up on these series and later bought the collections). It's just that I don't think that Kuroda is a big draw, especially his weak last episodes.
Seiji Mizushima on the other hand directed shows like Zaion, Daigard and Shaman King. I really don't understand why people are so exited about this combination. Of course it might just be me since I would love to see Ryousuke (Votoms, Gasaraki, Blue Gender) directing and Dai Sato ( Ergo Proxy, Eureka 7, GITS SAC, WOlf's Rain) writing. |

1st reaction when I saw the name of the new Gundam series "ZOMG! NEW GUNDAM ALREADY!?"
Gundam designs: the back looks interesting, new power source I pressume. Gundam's crown lowers for a better camera.... bit different from other Gundam series I've seen. But certainly not a new concept.
Character design, they look mean, especially the female.... (maybe a trap, who knows).
The voice at the end, from my hearing, it sounds like Amuro Ray's seiyu. Quite simular IMO. I have seen a few scenes of Ray and his voice is recognizable.
My Gundam history:
Wing: 1st time to see a Gundam series properly. I think it was ok.
Endless Waltz: better graphics and like the new designs. That's about it.
G GUndam: WTF! *puked* Can't believe I got the model *I got it way before I watched it, ah..... brings back memories building my 1st Gundam * .
SEED: good music, big graphics improvement, a bit of physics applied, MS design..... well, the main Gundams were ok, apart from the druggies. Re-used scenes was just at border line of death. HATED HARO! Overall, one of my faves.
SEED Destiny: 1st couple of eps were ok, then straight down hill ever since. Too much talking, retelling SEED, far too many flash backs and copy pasting, annoying SHINN! Destroy with a back pack was stupid. Muu escaped death again "Makes the impossible possible"... he more or less deserves that.
I am getting a bit annoyed that the main Gundam in most series (correct me if I'm wrong, this is my impression based on what I've seen in the past) are always these standard colours: white, blue, red and yellow. Show some real evil colours for once in a while! They probably look better in evil colours. Like the black Freedom that someone customised. That totally kills the standard.
Now, back to the main topic, 00. Looking forward to it and especially in the future of Super Robot Wars hahahaha, they will never die.
It's been a long time since I've been in a forum again. |

As long the characters are more unique this time around, I'm fine with it. The premise looks different at least this time, so while it's not clear what's going to happen, at least it won't start out very predictable, hopefully.
As for Seed, it wasn't bad at all, till later episodes. I mean, it drew a bunch of proven elements from the original, so you can't just say UC is significantly better. Seed was more of a title that gradually crapped out, and completely hit rock bottom in Destiny imo, which I didn't bother going past the first few episodes.
I think sunrise could learn alot from their other current series featuring war and mech in code geass. In the end, it is going to be the characters that drives the series, and geass has shown you can sacrifice some mech action scenes without too much consequence in the action department. |

| I'm afraid I don't like s-CRY-ed either. I thought it was a waste of my time and rather dull. It seemed like a bad Japanese version of X-Men. Hopefully Gundam 00 will be good. I have something of a loyalty to Gundam because the first anime I ever saw was dubbed, edited, vhs copies of Gundam Wing, and thats how I fell in love with anime. But G Gundam was horrible, at least in my opinion. |
