Aieeee~!

THEY PICKED UP YOUR AND MY SECRET HOORAY!

I was afraid it was gonna rot in the back of ADV's catalogue forever! Nothing against ADV Manga, it's just that you can't really rely on them when it comes to series that they don't also have the anime for. And seeing as Your and My Secret doesn't have an anime, period . . . well, I'm happy to hear this news, simply that. :]

But, yeah, eck. More Princess Ai? I have yet to meet a single person who's really a fan of Princess Ai . . . who are they making all this stuff for, exactly?

I'm happy to see that too, though the wait is annoying. But that's the industry standard between release of a hardcover and a paperback so I'm not surprised.

Unless the book in question becomes insanely popular and sells very well in the hardcover format.

I am interested in what they mean by Anthology next to Warcraft and the the other one, 600 page graphic novel?

Same thing with Starcraft are these a bunch of stories have been collected into one big Anthology?

My guess: 12 year old girls.

Anyway, I'll admit the artwork isn't bad, but the whole concept of it just bothers me.

Okay so really, just Courtney Love does.

Manga Sutra -- Futari H

I'm pretty sure that's a hentai manga, that's kind of unlike tokyopop to release something like that.

I'm going to just skip commenting on the whole Princess AI fiasco.

Meanwhile, that Masque: Gothic & Lolita... That's not the Gothic & Lolita Bible translation, is it? Couldn't find info on the book and it is by 'various'. Though I would think they'd say Gothic & Lolita Bible flat out like thier first press release on it.

I kept hearing about Futari H, but now that i have heard the plot, it sounds kinda funny. It's a marrage sex comedy. Looking up the Wiki page, it seems there is 34! volumes.

Though Manga Sutra? Is that the title they made for it? Wow. I know Tokyopop slaps the term manga everywhere, but using it as a buzzword in a crappy translation seems like a new low. Not sure what the difference is between Futari H and Futari Ecchi, but the page had this interesting comment on the title. "The title Futari Ecchi ("two person ecchi") is a play on a slang term for masturbation, hitori ecchi ("single person ecchi")." Guess Tokyopop felt more like ripping off names from manga and kama sutra than going along the lines of that pun or leaving it untranslated. I would think most fans old enough to buy it know what ecchi or H means.

Other than that, nothing really stands out. Then again, I can barely keep up with my current manga series.

edit: Actually, looking at title, GOSICK is kinda funny. Is it just me, or is that a pun and Engrish take on the word 'gothic'?

Nah, it's a seinen manga. Runs in the same magazine is Berserk.
Just because there's nothing in it but sex doesn't actually make it porn.

Gosick: Sakuraba never actually explains the origin of the title.
It might just be a mistake.
But the series is straight up gothic horror mystery, so the title is clearly derived from the word Gothic...

After reading Andrew's link, I'm interested in Gosick. Otherwise, the only titles I have the slightest bit of familiarity with are Gakuen Alice and Futari H. I'll probably get Gosick and Gakuen Alice, but I'm unsure of Futari H, especially at that length.

I wouldn't lose hope yet. They haven't finished what they already have. Maybe they will still get the other novels.

I so cannot believe that they picked up Futari H Shocked So are they going to do editing or what? I guess I need to add the Tokyopop panel on my list of things to do at AX. I think under normal circumstances the anthology manga of a game has various artists doing one or two chapters or even shorter, and just writing various situations from the game that are usually displayed as humorous.

I hear ya, but I'm going spazzhappy over New Petshop of Horrors enough that it ALMOST evens out the dissapointment of no more Seikai novels.

they probably would have done better with those marketing them as sci-fi novels rather than manga novels/pop fiction anywho. the anime fans would probably have picked up their relation to anime/manga and the general sci-fi novel fans, some of which do look down on anime/manga related stuff, would have been more open about buying them if they were less obviously manga related and not usually shelved among the manga.
