Darn, so BONES isn't animating it. I'd never even heard of Studio Flag until now (and apparently they haven't been involved in very much anime to date). It seems that there's going to be a somewhat experienced staff behind the production for the most part though, so here's hoping for the best.

Well, the Encyclopedia entry says the Scenario writer is Ryou Yashiro (though I'm still not totally sure what a scenario writer does fully).

It means "script / screenplay."

While the word "scenario" can mean script / screenplay, it is not as often used in this way as the latter two but is very common in Japanese (written in katakana). This also applies to "roadshow" (movie premiere) and "onanism" (masturbation); both terms are rarely seen in English but still very common in Japan.

Encyclopedia entry is for the manga, not for the anime. Since the anime announcement is so new, we don't seem to have an entry for it yet - I don't think we even know anything more about it than it's going to be done.

Done.

With how soon an anime adaptation is starting, I'm assuming they had an anime adaptation in mind from the very beginning, and the manga was really a promotion of sorts for it(?). The Mai-HiME manga started a few months before the anime did, but it was already known that it was an adaptation of the anime from the start.

Also, it's not that unheard of for a mangaka to do two manga at once (Oh Great! is doing Air Gear and Tenjho Tenge at the same time...Clamp does like a million at once, etc.)

dormcat, you rule Smile

Now I'm of course then expecting the information to be immaculate here, and it says that Arakawa is only the character designer, not even responsible for the original concept let alone writing anything. Makes sense to me - being a mangaka really is a full-time job in it's own right.

looks like this manga is started 2006-10.
letsay 1 chapter per week, that's about 26+8 chapters only.

has this manga finished yet?

cause if not... the anime will catch up real quick, and then will have a forced ending different from the ongoing good manga storyline...

isn't this what happen with FMA?
wasn't it implied that she "butt-heads" with anime writers not infrequently...? (in those 4 panels back pages)

sheesh... is arakawa sensei so desperate for the anime licensing money?

Actually, in an interview, she said that she had actually requested that the anime storyline be different from the manga's.

i wanna be excited about this, but the anime Fullmetal Alchemist wasn't written by Arakwawa (past the first volume anyway), and while i like the manga, so far is hasn't been anywhere as deep as the anime.

I would care to disagree with you. I find the manga version to be a much fuller and richer story than the anime, though let it be known that I absolutely LOVE both of them.

Juushin Enbu: Hero Tales is very different from FMA though. I have been reading it since it came out, and it is moving along at a lightning-fast pace. I would be surprised if the series was longer than 13 animated episodes.

I so agree with you about Hagaren!
The manga has a better storyline and, above everything else, better characters development than the anime... the anime is still a masterpiece for other reasons, though. ^^

About Studio Flag, well,,, let's cross our fingers! ^^

Do you have a link to that interview? That would be an interesting read.

Or is it in one of the profiles books?

Well I read the interview in question on a Live Journal site about two years ago but I can't find it now Sad . However, I remember it was a interview from a magazine and the entry actually supplied scans of the magazine, along with a translation. So in my opinion the story is 100% accurate and it isn't a case of made up/mis- information becoming "fact" on accident (which does happen in all fandoms - it's a pitfall that happens at time with information distribution Confused ). I guess your best bet in finding the original article would be to do a Google search or check around at FMA fansites and see if anyone has it posted or has a link to it posted.
