This certainly could be the way to find out if they've learned their lesson. If they're making what they want to be making on the stuff they're releasing now, then they'll go ahead and price these out the same way. I'd be surprised if they were still going after licenses if they're not making any money, though. I'll bet these end up at $39.99 MSRP, or in that neighborhood.

Either way, though, I'm predicting we'll get more $40 per two episodes crap, meaning I won't be buying. MS IGLOO was good stuff, but I refuse to validate Bandai Visual's bull, and will not buy unless they're pricing it reasonably (I'm talking $25 at most with a minimum three episodes per volume).

It was really hard for me not to buy Gunbuster 2, Wings, and Emma volumes one, but I managed to stand by my ideals. I unfortunately crumbled and bought the first volume of Frededom for the novelty of having a HD anime title. MS IGLOO will also be hard for me to boycott, but I will try to be strong and not buy any more BVUSA titles at their prices.

Is there any reason to buy Patlabor, Akira or Honneamises HD releases in the US? I believe that the Japanese releases will have the same dubs/subs included and will cost about the same amount. I'm thinking about buying BV Japan Blu-Ray titles when they are released this summer since we share the same region code.

Engrish: I agree. There really is no market for Super Robot Wars anime at the prices BV would charge for it. The company would be taking a loss, even if they did sell it at their current prices.

Randall: Even if I wanted to buy Freedom now, I don't see the point, because the format wars are still in progress, and because I don't know when they're gonna finish the production anyway.

And once again, BV doesn't get anything I really care about. Yay!

Good to know they got both MS IgLoo series. I was wondering if we'd ever see it stateside. Now I just have Gundam Evolve to wonder about.

I really like the Super Robot Wars games but without the other games (that have all the famous robots) there never going to be successful.

As for Igloo I can imagine that were going to be getting a single episode a disc for $40, which pretty much ruins it for me. I wonder if even the most hardcore of Gundam fan will even pick this up.

HELL YES!!!! thank f*cking god! I've been a super robot war fan for almost 8 years and an even bigger fan of the banpresto original characters. when they announced the original generation ova i nearly freaked. when the og tv series aired i flipped a f*cking brick. now bandai visual announces that they have liscensed both??! holy f*ck! ill buy it up for whatever price. money is money, it can be made, it can be spent. bv prices may be outrageous (christ almighty, i just forked out almost $90 on gunbuster 2 the last couple months and damn near bought freedom the other day. no complaints thought, because gunbuster 2 was fanf*ckingtastic on all accounts.) but if it gives you joy than its hella worth it! im good at finding deals so im down for it. thank you bv! please release the figures that came with the japanese volumes! : )

The Igloo OVAs are fairly awesome. Looking forward to it!

Have to say that I don't really get why everyone is giving B-ENT so much grief.
I've been collecting the Eureka 7 volumes with glee, and have yet to discover any aspects of them that I don't like.
Sure, Zeta's dubtitles did sort of dampen my excitement over the boxset, but outside of that release, I've been fairly pleased.

Can't say I've had too much experience with BV, though.
I'll give them a chance with Igloo

AnimeonDVD.com has already confirmed that both OVA's will be released on a single 3 episode disc a piece

Does anyone know what super robots are in Super Robot Wars Original Generation? I have been a fan of Go Nagai's super robots since I watched the american adaption of his work. Jim Terry's Force Five had Ufo Robot Grendizer/Grandizer, Getter Robo G/Starvengers, Gaiking/Gaiking Space Dragon,Danguard A/Danguard Ace,and Star Zinger/Spaceketeers.

I also grew up reading Marvel Comics Shogun Warriors with Danguard Ace, Reideen, and Combattler V/Combatera. I would like to know if any of these robots are in the OAV or series.

not very many ironically, so far in the series only the Grungust and DGG's, RyuKoOh and KoRyuOh have been the main SR force of the OG good guys none of the more interesting original SR's Banpresto has created have shown up like the Earthgain, Grandor, Forte Gigas just to name a few.

You won't be seeing any of them. The SRW anime consists of entirely original characters who have appeared in the various games. Those characters got their own game/universe (OG, OG2, and the recent OGS which retells the former 2) and the OVA and series are both based off of that.

All I gotta say to BV is thanks for killing any hope for the SRW franchise of having any sort of survival. I can tolerate the OVA since at least the animation is there, but the TV series is a disgrace (this coming from a diehard SRW fan). To save a lot of time and effort I will just say that the TV series has every issue imaginable and is in no way truly representative of it's source material. It has not a single redeemable quality and if there was anything that would bring down the property further in the eyes of the US audience it's this garbage. At this point BV is not only asking but begging to lose money and I wouldn't be surprised if I hear that this series tanks worse than GaoGaiGar..

Actually I found the TV series more tollerable than the OVA (and this is also comming from a SRW diehard), I found it a nice take on the first game's events. Hell they made more references to other factions in this series than they were able to in the games (like for instance the apperance of a Guest (yes that's what they call them) character) it was those little things that made it worth, granted the CG started out kinda bad it's gotten way better where I got to (Ep. 20).

Answer 1: Banpresto original supers only. All three of the Original Generation games (OG1, OG2, and OGs) used only characters and mecha created by Banpresto for the other parts of the SRW series. Although Mazinkaiser is technically considered as a Banpresto original (its debut, in game, manga, anime or any other form, was in SRWF Final for the PS1 and Saturn), they would still need Nagai's permission to use him, thus creating licencing issues, blah blah blah.

Answer 2: The OG TV series includes Grungust Type-0, Grungust, Valsion, Valsion Kai/Custom, SRX, Cybuster (arguably a hybrid, not a super), Judecca, and maybe other things I can't remember (haven't seen the entire series, so might be missing some Balmarian supers).

Haven't seen the OVA, but going through its wikipedia page, the supers include Grungust Type-3, SRX, Cybuster, Daizengar/Daigengar/Daigenguard/whatever.
