Hell they made more references to other factions in this series than they were able to in the games (like for instance the apperance of a Guest (yes that's what they call them) character) it was those little things that made it worth, granted the CG started out kinda bad it's gotten way better where I got to (Ep. 20). |
So those little things make up for poor storytelling, character designs that hardly do the characters justice and only vaguely look like them (looks at Aya), a level of animation that I would hesitate to call animation (boy stills sure are exciting), and a laughably awful soundtrack that is overused to no end? The show lacks any style, and the series still hasn't done anything to deliver what they promised (or did you forget that as of yet meaningless first scene from episode 1?). I also can't stand the CG models and I feel nothing when they are in motion. They're slow, clunky, and unimpressive (one exception being the Akashic Buster...but even then). Just as an example of what we've been treated to, we don't get to see Irm get the Grungust for the first time but we have an episode dedicated to Princess Shine's antics (I like Princess Shine, but the writing is what brings everything down)? We're all better off just playing the games. |

like how most SRW music is reused in game. Also it was a series that aired at 1:30 in the morning you also gotta take that into effect (series at that time slot don't get that good of a budget) so just be thankfull it was even animated at all. Then again it's two different opinions of anime fans.
Edit: to make it sound less instulting |

| About the supers...the OAV includes SRX, Cybuster, Grungust Type 3, and Daizengar/DyGenGuard. The TV series has SRX, Cybuster and a bunch of Grungust variations. |

I don't get the logic behind releasing the OAV first when it takes place AFTER the events in the TV series
That's like releasing Return of the Jedi, then going back and showing Star Wars |

Cause BV is releaseing it the way it was released in Japan, the OVA came out the same time as OG 2 hell the first ep came as an extra with the game.
Divine Wars is a recent series. |

| I was excited when the Cybuster anime came out on DVD, but was very disappointed in it's quality. The characters and mecha seemed so different compared to the Super Robot Wars counterparts. I love the guy with the cats (can't remember his name, Gilliam? been 10 years) who didn't make it into the video game. They didn't even have the Cybuster II. I hope the Super Robot anime is better. |

Didn't stop ADV from doing it with Borgman and Dirty Pair (we never got the TV counterparts to those) or CPM with the second Yu Yu Hakusho movie (we did get the TV counterpart albeit several years later). Back then, it was common practice to do that, but in today's market they really should've released the TV series first or nothing at all. It was definitely insulting to get the Borgman films which take place after the series and reveal major plot developments of the TV series and then get no TV series at all. At least with SRW: OG the TV series will be forthcoming unless the OVA's tank so bad that BV USA cancels the TV series release. It seems they used to use the OVA/movie of a series to try and garner interest in a series but, most of the time it takes place long afterwards with the characters and situations developed along those lines. You end up feeling like you're missing something. But, again thankfully they're releasing the SRW: OG tv series as well as the OVA series. We were never that lucky with Dirty Pair or Borgman. |
