Eh, I see stranger people on the subway all the time. As long as you're not mumbling to/shouting at strangers incoherently, I think people will pretty much leave you alone. Especially extravagant cosplayers may get weird looks, though. |
You think so? I usually get heckled a bit just by reading a book, so I naturally assumed elaborate cosplayers would be an easy target.
I'm glad someone is happy about the change of venue though. |

Really? Nearly everyone (myself included) is reading a book when I ride every night. Maybe the Red Line is more academic and refined than the other subway lines. |

*laughs* Are you mocking my Long Beach based Blue Line? Well, I certainly don't blame you, it is quite exceedingly pants. |

This is bad news.
LA has poor air quality and higher temperatures. Plus LA traffic… And the fact that it’s LA… LA people…
It’s almost as if SPJA is trying to ruin AX… |

Oh GOD! No no no!
I went to Wizard World, I went to Star Wars Celebration IV and I been to the LACC a lot and let me tell you while the Convention Center itself rawks the area around it bites. If they know a con is going to be there they hike parking prices from $10-15 all the way to $20-25! That and there aren't many hotels, the area is a total mess, and as of now there is real no place to hold all the unofficial events we love AX for. From cosplay chess to meets really no place to do it in downtown LA...
Also there aren't many hotels in the city to buisy building condos no one can afford. I wonder how much they will rape us for hotels...
I mention the traffic bites? It sucks to go into the city Argggg! |

Those are my issues with the venue as well -- the parking is OUTRAGEOUS (and the traffic just to get into the expensive car parks is miles long) and most especially the lack of places just to 'hang out' with your fellow attendees. There's nowhere to walk and nothing to see around the Convention Centre at all. It may be great for the Home and Garden Expo, but certainly not for Anime Expo. |

| Would it be possible if the major events (such as any concerts and/or the masquerade) were held at the Staples Center? |

| Hmm....LA Convention Center is closer to me and at least there's a carpool exit, but I hate parking there...I remember for the last E3 I had to get there ridiculously early so I didn't have to park in the expensive lots across the street. And for the Star Wars convention I had to eat standing up at the cafe area. And I don't feel comfortable walking around that area at night. I miss Anaheim. I really like having cheaper/decent places to eat around conventions, as well as having a hotel that's next door. Long Beach was good for food/parking, but I'm lazy and don't like walking too far. Blah. If AX is going to be in LA, I'm still going to go, but I'm debating on whether or not I want to get a hotel since it's about a 15 min drive from my house. |

hahaha! You should see those parking rates when E3 used to roll around.
They are pretty much knocking you out and taking your wallet. If you can manage to park in the convention center parking, then you are fine. |

AX doesn't stand a whelk's chance in a supernova finding the funds for the Staples Centre. Not even if they got Laruku and Ayumi Hamasaki to perform. :/ |

No really I am looking at the hotels and mapping em in Downtown. I am NOT walking 5-10 blocks in downtown. I hate it down there.
I stopped going to Little Tokyo 'cause one time on the street I was accosted by a homeless person and have never gone back since.
Call me parenoid but I like my safety of my So Cal suburb. I am gonna have to invest ina tazer or something so I can feel safe. I was tramatized by that hobo that day. |

obviously if you live close to LACC then you'll probably prefer it there, heck I'm from Long Beach and I actually want AX in LBCC over Anaheim simply because it's more convenient for me haha but I don't think the LACC is a good place for out of towners who aren't familar with the surroundings to go wander off late at night.
And I agree AX should consider re-scheduling or hiring professional organizers instead of volunteers employee staff and fans. I actually had a decent time at AX, I've been attending since 2001. Though I thought AX01 and '02 was more fun when it was last held here in L.B |

GO BACK THE OTHER WAY!" |
Keep in mind that most of the staff you don't see in official AX vests are either staff that the convention hall provides, or was a private service that AX hired (in yellow jackets). The latter, as told by the con heads at the complaint suggestion panel will not be back next year, due to many complaints. |
