I certainly am glad that I'm not the girlfriend or little sister of the...people...who think what that weirdo loony did was funny and/or acceptable behavior.

If someone hit me in the face with ANYTHING let alone a pie, I'd sure as hell would expect my boyfriend/big brother to clobber the snot out of the jerk.

I did put myself in Tommy's place. How can you get pissed off at being pied? Notice how he returned the pieing and proceeded to take pictures with the guy. If your immediate reaction is to press charges against the guy then you've got a serious case of having your head up your ass and being unable to laugh at yourself.

Umm, no. Tommy displayed what would happen 1 in so many chances the way it turned out. If it was somebody else, they would have been pretty pissed off about it and called security on his ass. You are not looking at the reality of the matter, obviously.

I'm quite amused by how many trolls quickly joined the site just to troll in this thread.

omglolfunnyz. Go back to Youtube comments section will ya? Rolling Eyes

More seriously, I'm glad it's a pie and not a knife or a gun. From his blog he appears to be the kind of person perfectly capable of shooting up a school. I hate to judge, but he's probably dangerous. It is entirely possible -- if not plausible -- that this person will take Yune's, AX's, and people on the 'net's reaction badly and try something...more concrete...next time.

as much as you can have fond memories of it as a kid...it was always a monstrosity to begin with...it has no "purity" that's now been spoiled by shadow chronicles.

big ups to yune for reacting so well to it though =)

QFT.
These pie attacks originated in France, IIRC. Bill Gates was one of the first American victims that I can recall.

The guys not at that level of crazy yet, but your right, if he continues down the path he’s on he will reach that point. However I don’t think what we do or say will have much of an affect on his way of thinking. He did this knowing that likely no one would be on his side. He has probably felt everyone has been against him for years so our reactions wont really surprise him, if anything it will only serve to justify his actions in his own mind. He likely believes himself to some kind of lone wolf hero striking back against a world that long ago turned its back on him. To someone like this any reaction by others will inevitably be seen as a personal attack against him. Basically he will see things the way he wants to see them, even if that’s not the way they really are. In the end nothing we say or do will have any real affect on him. Sadly enough that’s probably the way he wants it.

The reality of the matter is that he took it well. You're making the jump that everyone thinks the same way as you. Look, maybe it's an East Coast/West Coast thing where if something minute happens on the West Coast people flip out while people on the East Coast are okay with convention heads having fireworks shot off in their face..... or maybe that's just Florida..... in fact, I think it is just a Florida thing. We're a group of terrible people down here.

Okay, next Florida con someone is getting pied even if he is wearing his dress clothes while doing his presentation on why TV Funhouse seems indy if you take out the laughter and the "TV Funhouse"/NBC logos.

I am not going to speak for fighterholic but most people(not all) would be pissed and would call secuirty. Some might have even have hurt(or tried to) the guy for doing this.I am from the east coast(upper NY) and i would have called security on the guy(not even knowing what the guy was thinking..despite i know what the guy is thinking now) and have security and the con deal with him.
Let me put it another way.I sometime disagree with viz for their editing of their manga.I purposely travel roughly 400 miles to otakon(for me it is roughly 450 to otakon) because i disagree with their job.I plan pie them in the face(one of their major representative ) because of their job.First of all is this a proper response to how they should be doing their job?Second of there is their other ways on how to hopefully change their editing their manga?Third is this going to change their way of editing their manga?Fourth to you doesn't it seem a little extreme on what i just did(for a simple little manga editing choice)? Now replace what i just said with viz with harmony gold, manga for robotech and instead of otakon use AX.Think about it for awhile. To me this guy thinks himself the savior of cartoon. If he doesn't like how a company is handling it he should try to change the situation or just buy the orginial japanese series and completely ignore the "american" verision of the show.

Well, if everyone is not thinking the same as me then you need to go back and re-read this entire thread. Some people see it your way, but you sure are missing out on the people who think otherwise against Schiller and what Tommy could have done after Schiller pied him.

I am so glad I found this, even if it a bit late in the game as they say. Instead of responding to numerous unintelligent and mildly retarded posts I'll simply make some blanket statements. For starters this douche bag is a discredit to Americans, anime fans, and the human race as a whole. What the hell gives you the right to pie someone in the face over a freaking cartoon you didn't like? A pie in humor is one thing, this guy obviously did it to be mean and make some sort of point and show people how righteous he is. What a complete ass. He's damn lucky assault charges aren't being pursued he's lucky Tommy took it so well and played along. He deserves a bunch of respect for simply smiling and rolling with it. If that had been me that ass would be coughing up blood and swallowing his teeth. Judging by his blogs he has some serious mental issues and might want to watch what he says when in public or he might just have the coughing up blood scenario happen anyway.

Beyond the purely physical aspects of this act it also serves to show what kind of fans Americans are. This is a horrible example of what anime fandom here is like and only serves to show how childish some so called fans are here. This guy should be castrated so he can't breed and bring more idiots into the world.

For all the people that think this is funny or that AX over reacted I hope some random guy comes up to you and shoves some sort of foreign object in your face. See how you like it.

To be fair there are 'fans' like this all over the world, not just exclusive to America. Go to a Brazilian football game, comes to the top of my head. But even outside of the sports fandom, there are movie 'fans' all over. And, yes the're crazy.

But other than that small point, I agree.

I'd rather deal with a soccer hooligan. You'd probably be able to tell before they got near you that they were violent. With Pie-boy you wouldn't be able to tell.

BTW - Was the camera person banned from AX as well? Because, obviously, they knew about the attack otherwise they wouldn't have filmed it.

Again, as I said with my second post on page six. I think this ban is in name only. And that neither got any sort of real consequence.

I do not if they do this but if they put a picture and a name not allowing said person is allowed in the con it could help(sorta like a wanted poster with a picture, name and description). The person does have to pick up his/her own badge(at least all of the cons i have gone to..which has been a lot).
Plus if cons share information about people who said things it would help with keeping an eye out for trouble.

Well I guess when Tommy Yune and Carl Macek both come to Chibi-Pa I will need to instate a special security measure. Guards with Pie proof shields and a confiscation of all pie related materials. So note to self no whip cream or pie pans.

Of course we could donate any confiscated pies to the starving Fanboy and Fangirls fund.

Seriously folks though. Whether or not it was done in good intention or not. Its very disrespectful. I mean what next a pie in the face if your cosplay out fit is not good enough? Somebody walks down the hallway and you get pied for good fun because your wearing a powerpuff girl t-shirt?

Truthfully ANYTHING like that against ANY PERSON, is a walk out of the event. I don't care, if its a squirt gun with disappearing ink or water. Its just not right.
