I was using the app on my PS3 and the one on my LG "smart" TV.

The Netflix app on my Android phone does better than either of those. It explicitly includes "genre" as a search criterion. Entering "anime" gets me twice as many titles as with the other apps, but that's still only twelve items. It also found Madoka Magica right away.

I prefer my PS3 since I have a Dolby 5.1 connection between it and my audio receiver. It doesn't matter for Madoka; my preferred audio source, the Japanese track, is in 2.0 stereo.

I've only had a Netflix subscription for a few weeks, but when I first joined I thought there was a whole genre category for anime. I do not see that any more. Searching for "anime" brings up only half-a-dozen titles, none of which is Madoka.

Are you in the United States?

If so, the following should bring up far more than half a dozen titles:

Pokemon's been there a while.

The Bey anime have been there since last year, for some reason they just now put them in the "Anime" section. Laughing

So strange to add Blue Exorcist as sub only when it has a dub. I assume it might be because they want people to watch the dub eps via Toonami or Adult Swim on demand. Does Advent Children have a dub, too? There are too few anime dubs available via streaming, I always counted on Netflix to have dubs. I'm worried that sub only via streaming will become a trend.

So, Netflix has put up the trailer for Knights of Sidonia. That they're calling a "Netflix original". I've already had someone thinking that Netflix had a hand in making it.

[edit]

Found the page for it. It is indeed labeled "A Netflix Original Series", the same as their series that they produce themselves. If that's not misadvertising, I don't know what is.

How so? They localized it thus its an original program. They did the same thing with Derek which they brought over from the UK.

Knights of Sidonia is now available to watch.

I also just saw that Wicked City will be available for DVD rental 7/9/14, which has me scratching my head.
