| I've never seen NewType USA on any Magazine Rack, which is odd, because I've always seen new issues of Shonen Jump(No Shojo Beat, though), Random Beckett Magazines, and heck, even Otaku USA, but never NewType USA. It really must be the high price tag on the mag. |

| I see Otaku USA, Newtype USA, Shojo Beat, and Shonen Jump in both Barnes and Noble and Borders by me. However, both of these have very large magazine sections so I'm not surprised. I almost bought Newtype but I didn't have 13 bucks to spare at the time. |

| I find that in Canada, Newtype USA is harder to find. I only know of only a few places and they're all anime/comic stores. Chapters used to but stopped a few years back. Shoujo Beat and Shounen Jump is quite common though. |

Chapters in BC still carry Newtype magazine, though.
Also, I think this threat should qualify as spam. |

| I buy my Newtype USA (when I pick it up) at Wal-Mart. I don't know about Canadian Wal-Marts but a good number of US stores carry the magazine (it's in with the media-tie in magazines and usually on the bottom shelf because it's large format). |

| My friend brought a Newtype to school. I looked through it, but it was mostly pictures. I like Otaku USA best out of all the anime/manga magazines since it covered such unique things. |

Ya, my local Canadian Walmarts only carry Shonen Jump, although it's always next to the Video Game and Teen Magazines, you know the whole Disney Channel Celebs Magazines, so I never went near the media magazines, maybe I will next time. Although what I find really weird is the fact that the local Magazine Store,(Yes I have a store near me that essentially just sells magazines) doesn't carry NewType but does carry Otaku USA, and every Beckett anime magazine known to man(over statement). So maybe I just have to look harder to NewType USA. |

It's not "mostly pictures," that's called "big design." I love me some Newtype USA. This issue and the last were total redesigns. |

We are currently trying to smooth out some hiccups in our Canadian distribution. So you'll start to see us more consistently everywhere soon.
BTW, this is the second issue with our redesign -- we added a couple things here and there, like a mecha column. Issue after this has a few more things, so we're refining as we go along. Any comments you guys'd have would be much appreciated. Thanks for reading. |

You can read my comment on the redesign in the August issue of the magazine. It's under "Lookin' Good" in the Letters. |

As long as you don't touch Monica Rial's column or the Everybody Cosplay section, I'm a happy man. |

Rest assured we will not be. At this point we are only adding, not subtracting (and we love Monica and Jan).
Aromatic: Woo! Thanks again for the letter. |

I just started a subscription to Newtype USA about 3 issues back, so you must be doing something right in general.
The new color schemes give everything a more vibrant feel, which is fitting considering the subject matter is anime. New logos, the way articles are laid out, all the changes just make it feel more like an anime magazine rather than a regular magazine that happens to be about anime. (I hope that makes sense.)
I do have to admit though, the major draw has always been for me the preview DVD. I keep finding new series through those discs. Same with the manga inserts.
About the only thing I'd like to see added would be a regular or semi-regular column about the state of the R1 anime industry with actual DVD sales figures. It would be nice to actually know if Title A is selling better than Title B or if they're both tanking. I don't really see this happening though since all the companies seem to think that people knowing how many copies of a series are actually sold will somehow doom them to bankruptcy or something.
Still, it would be nice to be able to know if a series you like needs promotion or if it's doing fine without you pestering friends to check it out. |

I'm a student of graphic design so I always pay attention to things like that. Just look at the preview issue compared to the last two.
I especially liked the most recent DVD sampler: AIR (great show), Innocent Venus (which I liked very much), AND Mushi-Shi (great show w/ dub) all in one! |
