Sounds interesting. I may have to give this series a go. Nicely written review too. Thanks!

When I first read about the tragic death of the author, I was led to believe that the way the story was written, the pair never got together. But, since that spoiler[does] in fact happen, I'm not sure what's left for the story. It's sorta like what happened with Moonlighting. But I will at least give the next volume a shot and hope it can maintain the momentum of the previous arcs, and not morph into some Lucy-esque sitcom.

I was worried about that too. Apparently the (unlicensed, grr) anime ends it as she was planning to, with spoiler[the birth of their daughter], and the manga doesn't have an abrupt stop - it just sort of ends. I admit to some worry about the series turning sitcom-esque, but if it continues with Kotoko's decision to have a life outside of being married, it may be just fine. It's definitely still good through this volume.

This volume has the moment that for me really defines why this series is great: it actually shows life beyond the wedding. And sure, it can get sitcomy but no more than the earlier stuff (assuming that the anime was faithful in its adaptation ... I must admit, I have not yet picked up the manga though I plan to, despite it being sadly unfinished). It's really refreshing to see a shoujo series acknowledge that the story is doesn't actually end when the girl gets the guy, it's really just the beginning.

I loved this volume; the wedding made me cry! But my absolute favorite scene was Naoki asking Kotoko's dad for her hand in marriage, the dialogue was so sweet.

I really respect Tada for showing that even though Naoki and Kotoko have married, their dynamic hasn't really changed much. Itazura na Kiss does a good job in showing that marriage doesn't automatically mean you'll have a 'happily ever after' - you have to actually work for it.
