Not to mention that Rico's trip to the Opera also introduces Beatrice and Bernardo.
Also, is it wrong for me to want to see that episode just for the sound effects? Namely Rico snapping that officer's neck and beating the crap out of those Padania thugs?

Well, I basically don't know anything about this arc, since I'm at volume 2 in the manga lol. So I'm like "hmm...yes....interesting" when people actually get into the plot and the length of it lol. |

...ALLELUIA...ALLELUIA...ALLELUUUUUUUIA
My prayers have been answered -_-. Can.Not.Wait ;x. So much anime I am looking forward to, the second season of Shakugan no Shana, the second season of Kiddy Grade, the Eva rebuild movies, all of the Kiddy Grade movies that I have yet to see; and now the 2nd Gunslinger Girl anime. |

If nothing else, it has some fantastic stuff with Triela. (Heck, everyone of the girls get all kinds of great moments.)
I'm just so excited about it. |

They don't release sales figures and I don't have the fansub numbers, but yes, it is pretty popular. But there is more to it than just little girl fanservice, so I don't know why that would be a factor. |

There's fanservice of the little girls in the manga?
Because I've only seen the anime, so...
While it wasn't one of the best I've seen, I liked Gunslinger Girl. It's good that it's continuing, and I want to see the new season. It's too bad that Fruits Basket can't receive the same treatment.
My favorite part of Gunslinger Girl was Henrietta, but that might have something to do with my love for Laura Bailey (I only ever saw the dub). Henrietta is just so cute, though. I want to hug her (though I think that would be a very dangerous thing to attempt if I valued my bones).
I;m also concerned about Angelica's fate. I think it'll likely be a retcon of sorts, and they'll explain that she was healed after that very dramatic last episode. |

I like them too. It will be interesting to see how their storyline plays out. |

There was fanservice? | I've read the first four volumes (hoping to get number 5 soon) and I'm wondering how exactly anyone could be bothered by the extremely minimal "fanservice" in the series. I'm not even sure it's reasonable to call the couple of questionable images fanservice.
The only examples that spring to mind are in the first volume, during the first chapter, when Henrietta loses control and guns down terrorists with her P90, her skirt billows up and you can see her panties. Volume four has Claes in a bra. During a medical exam. Not exactly a plethora of pantsu.
Gunslinger Girl has so little of what might be called fanservice that it's laughable to be bothered by it. Lord help you if you ever read Negima!. If the "fanservice" in Gunslinger Girl bothered you, Negima! will flat out kill you. |

I never noticed any "fanservice" or panty shots until it was pointed out to me by a friend. It was odd that I never noticed it before (Hey, I'm a guy. I wouldn't mind if there's a little fanservice here and there), especially considering that the title of the show and the cover of the 1st volume of the manga seem to imply that you'd find a buttload (pun... intended, sure) of moe stuff.
I was attracted to the series by the premise of seeing girls with guns and purty pictures. I stayed with it because of the characters and the character growth. |

| This news makes me want to continue reading the manga even more now. I've read only the first volume to date (which came after watching the 13-episode anime). |

I agree, those kind of stories like Rico's are important to the characters. And how Treila deals with her aftermath with Pinocchio is a real must to see..
Here's hoping. |

They are covering the Pinocchio arc;

Follow-Up: The official website for the Gunslinger Girl anime now lists the recently confirmed second series for broadcast next spring. The original manga creator Yu Aida posted a comment that indicates that the new anime series will cover the Pinocchio story arc from the manga about cybernetically enhanced girl assassins. Im sure by now that some of you guys read volume 5 (which was released last week) and already know about the direction the Pinocchio arc has gone (I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet).
Now that i said that, I can't help but wonder if the second season will be longer then 13 episodes. From what I've read from volumes 3 to 5, there's a whole lot of small stories to tell before reaching a full arc, maybe at least 20 episodes or close to it. That would also include filling in the gaps from season one, such as Mario, Franco and Franca, and of course Angelica.
I don't have alot of inside info about what's happening, so if anyone hears or reads anything, let us know, k??
Thanks. |

| The big thing I hope for, beyond the Pinocchio arc is Triela's back story. They all obviously have sad and dramatic pasts but hers really got to me. Anyone who has read the current manga releases knows what I mean. So I hope they cover that part as well. Really makes her and Hillshire's relationship make more sense I think. |
