Not according to a survey announced in April 2006. http://www.npr.org/
The US came in #5 on the satisfied end |

For some reason, I just can't force myself to believe this. That percent is just huge. |

| I can't believe the 4 trillion yen number. There is no way that the hotels make 34 billion US dollars in profit a year and the anime industry 17 billion. | ||||||||

| So let me get this straight...
1% of the entire population of Japan checks into love hotels each day. Now, I could see a benefit (except for the obvious problems) in getting a "short rest" between long days of work over there... And according to one study, half the sex in Japan occurs in these hotels??? Are they trying to tell the world the Japanese believe anime is overrated? |

I wonder if the same prohibition applies to China. I remember I was touring China with two guy friends of mine, and we had the WORST time trying to get a hotel. And we got the dirtiest looks, too. Like my friend would start getting the room, and then as soon as they realized it was for all three of us, they suddenly would be out of rooms. |

| I wouldn't have believed this until I visited Japan... staying in old-timer's Asakusa and seeing at least 3 Love Hotels in the area...and also seeing quite a few drunk old business men keeping themselves vertical by hanging on a much younger woman in a mini-skirt. Gotta admit,.. we wanted to stay at a love hotel one night... just because they have Hello Kitty themed rooms *snort*. | ||||||||

| Well, that 1 % only indicates the people who like to do it on a hotel; instead of another place. But yeah, if that 1 % is the 50 % in the average in Japan, is something scary... | ||||||||

Wow, thats ~ a three to one population turn over every year, and thats just counting the 50% thats choose love shacks!
Well the NA market was recently quoted at $5 billion, but yeah, that 2 trillion Yen profit does sound a little fishy, considering that it's own market was just quoted as 242 billion Yen. If they were making that much in profit I doubt we would hear so many stories about the failing state of anime. There was an article about it, but I am not entering the right key words or something in the search, so it's only bring up 02'-04' items. |

Don't forget the Japanese are the least satisfied with their sex lives. So if half the sex is happening in the hotels & 1% checks into the Love Hotels every day That means 98% of Japan isn't having sex on any given day. Which is probably why they're so disatisfied. |

There's a picture of that on Wikitravel's Japan Travel Guide. ![]() |

Heh, yeah, I heard about this too from some friends who lived in Japan. Also mentioning the cars, it's much more expensive to own a car in Japan and few places to park, especially for those wanting to steam the windows. I have heard also that there is no age restriction since it's pretty automated and they figure if you're old enough to pay, you're old enough to play. I didn't know they had anything but automated check-in, so I was surprised about not letting single people or certain mixes of people not go in. The only restrictions on the ones in America is generally age and ability to pay. I wonder if they have hentai on their in-hotel channels? |

| So, this article contradicts last month "anime is better than sex" (accordly to internet research). Sex is still way more popular than anime |
