Forget the violence, imagine what would happen if fundamentalist Ned Flanders type Christians discover Pizza Hut is associating with a cartoon that is offensive against Christianity.
It's because of all the anti-christianism in Eva why the show took so damn long to appear on national mexican TV (while violence, swearing or even nudity censorship is nowhere nearly as strong as in the US, the government can still enforce and penalize channels for breaking these laws. While I don't think anti-christian shows apply in the rules, TV Azteca and Televisa wanted to stay away from Evangelion for years). The show only appeared on national tv (fully uncut and OMG!!! SUBBED!!!) because it's being shown on a public cultural station (figure a channel like PBS but with a lot of weird European shows).

Product placement in anime? American fans don't mind? O_o'
I suggest everyone if possible to watch a little bit of mexican tv (mainly any soap in TV Azteca or those stupid Good Morning esque shows). They publicize products like every 3 minutes. Most of them are over-the-counter medicines that shouldn't even be legally attainable. Ketoconazole isn't candy. It can kill you like a fly in a venus plant if you mix it with a ton of common drugs. Stupid mexican tv shows. ¬¬
After seeing the Vitacilina commercial a billion times, you'll agree with me that product placement in tv shows makes you feel like a mental retard (another medication that shouldn't be sold like candy. Vitamin A is teratogenic if given in large enough doses). |

bah japan exclusive items. well good for them, i hope they are successful. i really like they way they are headed right now. perhaps more franchises will start doing similar techniques.
i rather like those pizza hut references. its actually makes me laugh alot especially in code geass about how obsessive C.C is. actually im doing the senior project now and my subject is advertisement, i cud use this as an example of product placement technique along with a powerpoint screenshot of some scenes.
u ever have one of those days u just stay at home, marathon anime all day and order some pizza. oh man i miss those summer already. |

| Not too surprised. There were Pizza Hut logos in the new Eva movie at least a couple of times, along with UCC Coffee and Lawson and Doritos, haha. I was surprised to see so much product placement. |

A life size Rei Ayanami cardboard stand-ups for buying a pizza? There is a joke in here somewhere, possibly involving pepperoni but I wouldn't know what it is . |

Well, they can always eat at Domino's instead, since it's owned by a religious kook. |

Huh...? How is Eva anti-Christian? My Christian friends who like Eva might be surprised to hear that.
I would NEVER import a pizza. |
