| I just hopes this doesn't affect their ability to finish the Cromartie manga. |

Well, color me intrigued. When should we be expecting this new development? Before the end of this year, early next year?
Wishes the annoucement involved funding a new, full length season for UFO Ultramadien Valkyrie. |
I wouldn't mind that, but what about Bubblegum Crisis: Tokyo 2041—or the live action Evangelion movie? <EG> |

I suspect ADV is trying to get Keroro Gunso on TV. The series is over 180 episodes and still going (I think). A series that length really needs a TV run. Also, they would probably be insane to release it in the typical singles format. Viz is doing it for Bleach but they are releasing the set pretty quickly (in the past, Viz took quite a bit longer). I wouldn't be surprised if Bleach is the last lengthy series to get the singles treatment and future shows of such length are released in sets like Naruto and One Piece. Regardless of how they release it, I think at this point a TV run is necessary for 100+ episode series to be profitable.
In any case, my point is that Keroro Gunso taking so long is probably not a result of anyone's incompetence. |

Um, 4Kids (in their stupidity) released One Piece as singles, though it is currently the longest shounen series, and they had no plans for boxsets. Funimation is doing boxsets to make it easier to collect, since it IS so long. Viz released other series on a bi-monthly basis regularly, just like every other company, though it took them forever to release the boxsets for InuYasha. Now they are releasing both Naruto and Bleach in singles, followed by season boxsets. The only difference being that Naruto is being released in actual seasonal format (appx. 3 months worth of episodes per set), while the Bleach boxsets are separated the same way as the Japanese arc releases. And if Viz stays true to this apparent mimicking of the Japanese release, we will later see some 5 episode discs for some of the arcs, which will be nice. |
